I have been knitting. I am about done with a sleeveless top I have made mom in purple cotton yarn. It looks nice. I have the shoulder seams, and knitting or crocheting around the neckline and armhole to do yet. I want her to try on the sweater before I do that, so I can make minor adjustments.
Next, I am going to start on felted mittens. (I have cotton yarn for myself and will begin on a project of that yarn soon. ) I also have 2 pairs of socks I am knitting. I really like the sock blanks and would like to try that sometime.
Bye for now. It's too hot here and I have lots to do, I think I'll just read for today.
Yes, I've read some of mill on the floss GE is quite a character herself.
Well, I haven't been on here for awhile. I've been busy. Finished my pink sweater, and mom's sweater. Quite a deal to get these on the finish line. I am now going to start on mittens for my sister-in-law. I know she will really like these, this is the same pair I made for mom last fall. (Mom had a good mother's day, her son came over to see her that week.) It's still chilly here. We have some sporting events to go to this coming weekend. I need to do my part and take care of the family members who are not going.
I may take my knitting with me. But it will not be easy to knit all the time. I am working on the purple top for mom. I have it finished up to about the arm pit. (Sounds gross....I know.)
I am going to start another sweater for myself soon. It will be a pullover from the top down in ivory. I want to knit lots more.
That's cool that you are reading Mill on the Floss. Last year, after reading a biography of GE, I decided to start reading her novels. FIrst I read Mill on the Floss, then Silas Marner, and now I am about a third of the way through Middlemarch. I have enjoyed them very much and especially the connections to her life. I loved reading her biography and couldn't put it down. I may go back and read it again. I think my favorite of her novels so far is Silas Marner--I like how that story progressed, and some of the imagery developed in it.
Hi there! For the sampler in "The Sweater Workshop," any worsted weight yarn will work - Jacqueline Fee specifies a 4-strand worsted weight yarn. You can find all of our worsted weight yarns right here.
I hope that I don't forget how cold and messy this last winter has been.
Just in case I am putting this picture here. I want to stay cozy knitting this year.
I knitted the Mock Croc Socks Pattern by Susan Lawrence with the Essential Sock Yarn in color Grass (23695) at $3.29 per ball. This is a superwash merino wool yarn with nylon and is machine washable.
The pattern was easy to follow and knit. The yarn was thin enough to allow me to wear the sock in my winter shoes with out feeling too snug.
I wore the socks alot this winter. And I will continue to wear them year round. Yes, even in the summer because wool is such a wonderful material.
Options needles. Sharp points, smooth cable joins, flexible cables. Interchangeable needle tips starting at 4.99. Also available as classic circulars and double pointed needles.
Wool of the Andes Kettle Dyes
Our popular Peruvian wool yarn is now available in kettle dyes, only $3.49/50 grams.
Rock those socks!
