*****Sunrise Sunset, take a potty break

In the month of March I started to watch for the sun to rise early each morning. Our row of kitchen windows face the east and in the month of March the sun rises dead center over the field behind the house. Some mornings I'd lean against the kitchen cabinets, coffee cup in hand and j… Continue

*****Happy Days are here again!!!!!

Everything is back to normal here at the house. Well as normal as usual anyway. The kids are healing. The eldest daughter purchased a new car and the future son in law is healing. I can relax, I can knit. When I first came to the Knitting Community I joined the Sweater Workshop. My book from Knit Picks came just three days ago and after peeling the book from the mailer I was ready to start a sweater, any sweater. After cracking the cover open I realized I had quite a bit of reading to do first,… Continue

*****A long weekend for knitting

You know how sometimes you think you have all your ducks in a row. You make plans, get excited for a certain weekend or planned event? Well that's what I did all last week. I'd sit at my desk at work and day dream about the coming weekend when I knew I would have the house to myself to clean out my closet, quilt a bit on my mothers day gift for Mom, and of course rent a book or movie from the library and watch and knit in the evenings. You see, my husband had planned a little weekend trip of his… Continue

The last of winter?, perhaps! Probably not!

My first blog post. I'm new to the Knit Picks Community. I'm new to blogging too but felt compelled to start this blog. Who knows, it might just be fun. I'm going into work late today. It's now snow covered again, having witness another 5 inches or more of soggy snow last night. Our eldest daughter was in a car accident late in the evening. Slippery roads caused a young girl to lose control of her car and come left of center, creating an almost head on collision. Both the girls are brusied but b… Continue

Dear Debbie,
You certainly have a lot of conversations going on.
I really enjoy knitting socks also. Love the pic of your blue with your cat. I have not tried the knitting of two socks on one needle. (Is that what you meant?) Although I do knit two socks at a time. My preference are the wooden double pointed or the 12" circ.
I have finished the Sweater workshop by J. Fee. I can't remember where my sampler ended up. It was probably lost when we moved, eons ago, because someone couldn't figure out what it was, and threw it away or something! : )
Have you tried gloves yet? They are not as hard as you might think.

gosh i wonder what a widget is? i tried to up load some pics of my work but got sidetracked by knitting another pair...of socks...my most recent pair is from southwest trading company silk/wool blend with holographic sequens on the short cuff area...i did two inches of sequins in a 1x1 ribbing and then two inches of the yarn with no sequins...oh in bright red...i love adore red socks....(since im a birkenstock kind of girl, red socks give that flash of come hither (giggle) so that makes these socks the equivalent of high heels with straps around the ankle...
i really wonder about the fashion habits of sock knitters....what happens when you want to wear a dress?
or a mu mu like i do when i go tropical....
im thinking of filp flop socks with short cuffs and wild colors....to match the mu mus that i have been "fashioning" out of quilting cotton.....talk about bright colors....i especially love the batiks...
thanks for the invite....
i have been thinking about a blog
just got into raverly .....knittingpotter.....
i wonder if i am the only trans craftie going into knitting socks....perhaps i should say sockknittingpotter.

I just started classes last month to learn how to knit German style. The teacher is from Germany and believe me she knows her stuff. No scarf making in this class..we all started out with sweaters...which makes sense because we are paying to learn according to Inga!

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I noticed you are in the NW Ohio area and thought we might be close. I live at the eastern border of Ohio, 40 miles north of Pittsburgh.
I just started knitting last winter but have not attempted socks yet so I decided to sign up for this group to get some tips. Hope to chat some time.

Hi Debbi--
My grandmother's name was "Annette" and we called her "Nettey" so I was making a tribute to her by using that name! Also my middle name is Annette. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and introducing yourself. I'm new to all of this creative computing, but I'm hoping to catch on ---your blog is inspiring me!!

The Harmony needles are supposed to less slippery, aren't they? Maybe that's why you knit faster with the nickle plated ones since the needles are more slippery. But I had heard the Harmony ones are really good for slippery yarns plus they are really pretty, aren't they? My sister-in-law has the whole set but I am trying to be very good with not spending tons of money :-)
I have heard of the book "Twisted Sisters" but I don't have it. Right now all the current knitting books I have are sock books plus a moebius one from Cat Bordhi. I would like to knit this sweater though
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTbpt.html
The original yarn I think makes the sweater over $100 so I'm going to look for some equivalent on KnitPicks.
But I just bought the yarn to make this
http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html
so once that arrives in the mail, I am going to try that. It is totally the wrong season but at least I'll be ready come fall!

Did you get your Harmony needles yet? I was wondering how you liked them.
I haven't tried two colors in a long time but I did get the Charlene Schurch Sensation Sock book and I really like the mosaic sock pattern in the back. I may try two color that way. I am also intrigued with the whole knitting with one color in each hand--not sure I have enough coordinator for that :-)

hi debbie, nice reading your blog...im new to even understanding what a blog is then i discovered KNITTING BLOGS
i thought I would die....i just love this online journaling and actually connecting with others doing the same kind of solitary work.....after 30 years happily working alone in my studio i am so turned on by a this computer community phenom.....
When i think of all the years i spent talking to my self about what i was doing and only seeing and talking to other potters at art shows....
in response to your question about your ohio potter friend i am sorry to say that i do not know him....i have lived in norfolk virginia for most of my life with the exception of 8 years in charleston south carolina...i have done art shows from new york city and upstate newyork all the way down to miami florida...but nothing further west than central pa or colombia southcarolina....oh yea one really horrible show in Macon Georgia back in the seventies....
Right now i am knitting socks and have three pair finished down to weaving in the toe....i want to learn to do the kirtchner stitch...so far i have several diagrams and a couple of written descriptions....having tryed and failed withthe diagrams im going to try the written descriptions.....or go sit in the lys and do four pairs in a row and really learn how.....with supervision

Debbi,
thanks being the first to add a comment on my blog. Your kitty looks just like my Katakat. I remember all of the stress from our wedding planning backing in '01~~and had it not been for my count 'n cross stitch, I may of cheerfully killed my new MIL (my folks are both gone)

I love to travel too~~I go online and find all of the yarn shop/needle shop of where we are going and make my plan of how I'm going to shop (see I had to do all of the driving) and then I do my shopping.

~~Sam
