About Me:
I just started knitting about 2 years ago and I can knit and purl but cannot understand how to read anything any pattern. I do not undertand the terminalogy so I;m having trouble moving on with new ideas. I am a pro at making a scarf I 've made about 45 scarf for family and friends. I want to make hats and sweaters, etc...

Sorry it took so long to respond,,,
I guess it really depends on what you know right now. Really, if you know how to knit and purl you can make almost anything. Making a sweater or anything else is doing those 2 stitches in different combinations. If you have the knitters almanac, the April project might be a good start for you. EZ gives nicely written instructions on how to do it. I'm using size 10 needles and a bulky weight yarn-heavier than the normal worsted weight yarn. As far as any new terms that may pop up, or technical questions you have, Knitpicks has a nice tutorial section with pictures that should explain most of the tricky stuff. The APril project is an afghan-after you make 20 odd squares, you sew them together and knit around them to make a nice border.
I know you can do it! Pick a pretty color, and imagine how nice it will be cuddling up under it in the fall. In my case, it is going to be a car blanket-my husband likes it cooler, and I like it warm.
A recommendation from EZ is that-before starting a project, we make sure that our yarn and needles give the right stiches per inch to make the size of the garment right...she recommends making a hat! The sweater patterns in the Almanac give verbal instructions on how to do the hat first..perhaps that would be worth a shot?
Hope this helps you...always willing to give it a try anyway!

EZ's instructions can be hard to understand when you read the conversational version. It takes a few times reading the "pithy" ones too...but perserviere!!! After you've done a few squares, you'll be putting the instructions away...sometimes it's easier when I start making her projects.
best of luck! you can do this....
go get um!
