About Me:
I have been knitting for 50+ years, am recently retired, and now have time to knit all the time! I have two grown daughters and two small grandsons, so have plenty of inspiration to knit a wide variety of garments and socks. Since retiring, I live in the country with many cats and dogs, and am having the time of my life!

Correction - Just after last post, went back to e-mails and found I had missed one from Jasmine@knitPicks concerning coat and yarn sent on the 18th. And, I have just purchased and downloaded new coat pattern. Just have to decide on a color; smiling. Thank you so much.

Hi Terry, my new online knitting friend :o) I am on Ravelry with the same name...I too am learning my way around. Shoot, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to add you and phyllis to my friends list here. I rely on my kids for computer help, I don't know what I will do when they leave home. I knit scarves, looove shawls and baby stuff. I just got the book to learn socks on two circs...we shall see if I can master it. I am afraid without that technique I would have many lonely one socks (LOL).

Hi Terry,
I would enjoy being online friends.
I will also add you to my Ravelry friends. I know there are a few people from Montgomery on there. Do a people/locations search for Montgomery and it should bring up the Montgomery members.
I like to knit a little bit of everything. Mostly scarves, socks and shawls.
I've just recently learned how to knit socks on the two circular method. I think it a great improvement over dpn's What are your favorite things to knit?
Take care and happy knitting,
Phyllis

Hi Terry,
I really appreciate your answers. I adjust my patterns too. Ever since I made that first one. It came out well, but I didn't seem to fit me right. When I learned that I could make a copy of the measurements from something I already owned to adjust the pattern I was working on, I was very happy. It was liberating to learn that my options could be exactly what I wanted.
My ultimate goal is to have the majority of my wardrobe to consist of things I knit. Living in Michigan, I can't have too many sweaters, scarves or hats.
I made a pair of long johns for my son who camps in Jan and Feb. He goes with scouts and they TENT camp in freezing weather! It's insane. I bought him a set of under armor and when I asked him if he would wear long johns over them, he asked me if I could make some instead of buying the thin ones at the store. I had one month to get them done and I couldn't find a pattern. I didn't know about EZ yet or her Almanac. So I took his measurements started knitting. I also made him a wool sweater using one of his shirts so he could be covered from neck to ankle in wool. At the January campout this year, I had 5-10 boys asking for a pair. (We had a cabin for adults) He didn't even need a heavy winter coat over those things. He was the least bulky kid there and complained he was sweating all weekend.
I got the Amanac so I wouldn't have to struggle with another pair. I haven't been able to figure out socks on my own yet. I'm just missing something in my comprehension of the patterns. I also have acrylics from my early obseesion with sales. So I thought that would good to practise with, but I'm not getting it. Since I don't want to spend this next year knitting long johns, I thought it would be nice to give them a pair of wool socks. When they get to a certain rank, I could make the pants for them. I was really surprised they were into this. My son was walking around wearing them like the emporors new clothes.
Sorry if I'm going on, It's so exciting to be able to talk to other knitters. My non-knitting friends listen and get excited for me, but it's not the same. Plus then my list of requests just grows

Hi Terry,
I live in Huntsville also. My ravelry id is Phyllish. Have you been able to find local knitters on Ravelry?
