About Me:
I've been knitting since I was 14. My aunt taught me, but she was just learning herself at the time, and taught me the wrong way to hold the needles...so I knit "sidesaddle"...lol By that, I mean that I sort of anchor the right-hand needle in my lap as I work. I tried once to learn the correct way...but it was too frustrating... so I went back to sidesaddle.
I am a freelance writer, married to my prince and living my dream in a log cabin in the middle of forty acres of my beloved Texas. When I am not writing or knitting, I am tending to the needs of our "Esperanza" ranch.

My current project is a pattern called "Beachcomber Shawl" by Jamie Thomas of "Imagine Knit Designs". It's pretty effortless, so I can knit and talk or watch TV while I work on it and not worry about loosing my place.

I love shawls and I love garments with pockets... so I was pretty excited when I found this one. Of course, the heat in Texas will prevent me from wearing it until about October...
but October will come...and I will be happy to drape my soft blue shawl around my shoulders and have deep pockets in which to place little treasures I might find during long walks and to keep my hands warm.

Knit & Rip

Well, my wonderful lingerie book finally came...last week, actually. And I immediately got my delicious new yarn and sat down to knit. But no matter how many times I started...I always ended up with the wrong count at the end of a few rows and had to rip it out and start over. I finally wrote to alison, and she was so sweet and went and got the pattern and advised me what I was doing wrong. So I started over...and I actually had it for the basic shell at the bottom...a good 2 1/2 inches. Then I… Continue

Knitting Fast!

I'm so excited about my comfy yarn. It's on it's way, as well as the book with the cute lacey top pattern. Problem is...I promised myself I would not start anything new before I finished my lovely light blue shawl with the pockets. What was I thinking? Now I am knitting a mile a minute so I can be finished by the time my new yarn and book arrive. I only have 11 inches and one more pocket to go. Knit...knit...knit...

Easily influenced...

Ok... I'm still knitting my pocket shawl and have a bit to go on it before I'm finished, but I was reading about Alison's week-end project this morning, and darned if I didn't go and order 5 balls of Blackberry Comfy wool and a book on knitting lingerie...lol I guess I'm easily influenced. But I couldn't help it. I mean that was so incredibly beautiful and the neckline details were so lacy and pretty. I think it will be lovely over a pink cami or even a black cami and black skirt. I had to ord… Continue

There are two webpages that I use frequently for socks.
Knoon Knitters (video on Kitchener stitch) and
Socks 101 they have great photos that show you that you really are doing it right.

Just remember that it is only knitting and you are good enough!

On your website, it says my Everything skit.... did you write that? Do you happen to know who plays lead? I'm pretty (almost positive) that's a friend of mine.

Hi yourself, Kate!! I love your website! I found myself reading your page and not doing the project I'm supposed to today: finishing up crafts for Vacation Bible School next week and preparing meals ahead for DD & GK visit from Germany the following week!! But, I'll be back for a visit!
Cheers, Margaret

I want to knit this lovely yarn sooooo bad and all I can do is sit and hold it...and wait...and wait...and wait! Perhaps the book will come today. I can already hear the clink clink of my knitting needles... I think I'll go check the mail...
