About Me:
I'm passionate (or obsessed, or addicted, whatever) about knitting, accumulating yarn and patterns, dogs, good coffee, Lost, my nieces, living in Montana, politics, the environment, human rights, and chocolate. I have a job I usually love, but occasionally hate. I'm a lapsed quilter who intends to quilt again someday . . . maybe when I run out of yarn.

The Joy of Completion

Ah, that wonderful feeling that comes with a completely finished sweater! I finished the Sirdar Jacket yesterday; seams, buttons and all. I'm still insanely obsessed with that Swish Bulky yarn, and I can't wait for my latest order to arrive . . . . Meanwhile, I'm finishing the last sleeve of the Refined Aran Jacket, a Veronik Avery design from Interweave Knits Fall '07 - done in Comfy, and it's knitting up just beautifully. Hopefully that one will be finished and ready for posting this week!

How Long is this Tunnel?

Wasn't it nearly a week ago I thought I was seeing light at the end of this AFO tunnel? Well, I think I can still see the light, but I'm not out of the tunnel yet. The Silk Garden Shell is now going to be a Silk Garden tee. I finished the front and back, but decided to use the extra yarn to knit up short sleeves. Then I decided I didn't like the funnel neck, so I ripped the Front back about four inches and added some neck shaping - eventually to become the base for a mock turtleneck. The good ne… Continue

Almost at the End of the Tunnel

I think I see that proverbial light, so I must be nearing the end of the tunnel. Either that, or I'm having a near-death experience, but from what I've read, people don't usually blog in the middle of that type of thing, so I'm going with the tunnel theory. I'm nearing the sleeve cap shaping on the last sleeve of the Dirt Lace Cardigan. I've packed up Chart C, with the Post-It notes and mechanical pencils and magnifying bars required to work that chart, and I'm on to Chart A, a simple Lace and C… Continue

Best-Laid Plans

Ha! Thought I was going to catch up on some WIPs, did I? Thought the Universe was going to smile on me for being a responsible adult and devoting half my Saturday to work, instead of knitting, did I? Not even close. My responsible-adult behavior was rewarded by a computer glitch that ignored four hours of work and repeated "saves" and left me with the same product I'd had before the four hours of work, raw and unedited. So today I get to do that very same work all over again . . . . rather like… Continue

WIPs - Catching Up

Thanks to our customary Easter snow, yardwork is off the agenda for this weekend, and I was planning a long, self-indulgent weekend of catching up (or at least making a serious dent in) some of the projects that seem as though they've been on the needles forever. I can't even remember when I started my Silk Garden funnel-neck shell, but somewhere along the way I needed the needles, so it was relegated to a stitch holder. Thanks to the Options, though, I found appropriate needles again, finished… Continue

He is still a puppy, but I think he is full grown now. He is a bit larger than in the picture and weighs about 15 pounds. It is hard to tell how large he really is because he is such a fluff ball! He is extremely friendly and good-natured. He gets bossed around by our little 5 lb. yorkie and yelled at by our 50 lb. boxer. He just takes it all in stride! He is so comical. You just have to watch him and laugh! He runs and trips over nothing and falls. He loses pieces of food in his fur and HUNTS for it like he is on safari! He is just plain and simple a goober dog! Here is an example: He has a sweater. When he wears it you just have to laugh because his fur is smoothed down under but then it bursts out at the behind like a big puff ball. He walks around looking at himself and turning to the side as if to say, "Do you think this sweater makes my butt look big?" I just love this dog!

Thank you! He is a total Goober! He is clumsy and silly. The breed usually surprises people! He is a Chinese Crested! Except he is the recessive gene version...a powderpuff! He is as silky soft as they come. He normally doesn't sit still either, but after a bath, blowdry, and brushing he loves to pose for the camera! Like I said...a goober!
