It's Been a Long Time

It's been a very long time since I posted anything here. I have had a very productive summer, although I have never finished the Moderne Baby Blanket. One of these days... I just finished up a Clapotis using Evil Stepmother Imagination. I love that yarn. I made the Clapotis for a friend for her birthday, but I really wanted to keep it for myself. I bought four skeins, but only used three. So I think I am going to make a smoke ring from the leftover skein. I have since started the Moss Stitch H… Continue

Summertime!

Well, I never have finished the Moderne Baby Blanket. However, I did manage to get 3 burp towels and 3 bibs done for my friend Brenda. She had her little girl last week and is loving the burp cloths. IMG_1419_10 Continue

Only 2 More Weeks!

I have been working on a Moderne Baby Blanket for quite a while now. I have also made 2 burp cloths, 2 bibs, 2 baby surprise jackets, hat and booties, and 2 pairs of socks along with this blanket. My problem now is that my friend Brenda is due in 3 weeks, but is getting done work in 2 weeks. I am only on block 8. I really wanted to give it to her on her last day of work, but she may receive it after she has the baby. We have changed to summer hours at work (7:30 to 5:30 M-T and 7:30 to 11:30 F)… Continue

Kool Aid Dyeing

This week I tried Kool Aid dyeing for the first time. How much fun!! I used two skeins of Bare sock yarn. The first one I used 4 packages of pink lemonade in my 8-cup glass measuring bowl. I zapped it twice, waiting 5 minutes between zaps. I wasn't real happy with the color so after the second zap I mixed up a package of strawberry and added that to the mix. I zapped it for another 2 minutes… Continue

Spring is Here!!

I believe it has finally arrived. It is supposed to be in the low 60's today!! Silas is loving it. He gets to go for a long walk every night! Now I am awaiting the arrival of the ticks. Silas hate ticks. He can tell when one gets on him and just sits down and looks for it. So I have resorted to carrying tweezers with me on our walks. I have to remove the tick and show him before killing it. In the past week and a half, I have finished the Baby Kimono and made a hat to go with it. I decided agai… Continue

Can I ask what yarn you used for the Ela's Favorite Hats that you made? The yarn looks really soft and I love the colors.

Thanks!

Hi Lorrie,

I have lots of help!! At least, this year. We hired several new people and they help me with different part of my responsibilities. Sarah corrects my photos and preps them for the blog. Angela has been organizing podcast interviews for me so there will be more in the future. Alison has been working on the handouts for the sock knitting class I will be teaching at the tradeshow in Germany. The challenge has been to learn to delegate. But, once I experienced a few times, I understood the appeal.

Hugs

Yes, I am a HUGE fan of Lost, and thankfully, it comes on at 8:00 here in Mountain Time, so I haven't missed any episodes. We have a raging debate around here about whether Ben is going to turn out to be a good guy in the end . . . . I just can't see it, considering his past behavior, but one of my friends thinks Penny Widmore's father is the real evil character.
I'm having a hard time keeping track of who got home and how long ago; Kate has Claire's baby, but he's like 3 years old at the time of her trial. Jin died and Sun had their baby, but that must have all happened off the island - and she's already nearing her second trimester on the island, right?
I thought Saiyd was acting as Ben's executioner because Ben was holding hostages back at the island, but I might be wrong. And I'm totally clueless about the Michael thing - Apparently Walt is home safe, but still appearing to Locke in visions around Jacob's cabin?
Of course, I'll forget absolutely everything and have to buy the CD set and catch up before next season again anyway!
Hey - you make me feel like a wimp complaing about winter here in Montana. I don't think we've had 100 inches of snow in a decade, much less a year. Of course, that explains why our state is covered with wildfires every summer, doesn't it? Still, even an inch of snow is a good enough excuse to stay indoors and knit, right?
BTW, I love your alligator scarf! And congratulations on your sock success . . . I think I'm the only knitter in North America who isn't so into socks. But don't tell anyone, or they'll throw me out of the club, okay?
