am also a nurse, can retire in a year and a half, live in Lewistown Pa.How ironinc, I am considering a move to Texas also, have a son and his family that lives south of Austin,,they want me to move down there when I retire...they have Hobby Lobby Stores there that have tons of yarn....so my sock knitting would come in hand..I just learned to knit socks....so am enjoying my new found "talent"-I work in a Nursing home, so many of my chrocheted creations find there way to residents heads....I make hats with a flower on them...one particular resident , I have make and given her about 5 of them now....she just loves them...

Oh I know I will get there eventually but so far I am still enjoying shawls and other things, I haven't ruled them out totally just haven't tried them yet, I often think I would be afraid of second sock syndrome but I do booties, and fingerless mitts, and mittens !!! Enjoy your knitting!

Thanks. Socks are the best way to get back into knitting. I did the same thing. Took about 20 years away from knitting. I was into computers, art, working, children, etc. But I had to go on disability (I have a lung disease), and going back to knitting gave me a reason to live in a way. And all the new yarns that we have today that we didn't have 20 years ago. It's a real stress reliever. Have fun. Wheezer
