I got my Harmony set for Christmas 2007 and I didn't even know how to knit! I used to have a business selling my crochet work but closed it a couple of years ago and just started crocheting for fun. But I got the itch to learn how to knit (my mother turned over in her grave, I'm sure LOL) and dear hubby obliged. I am practicing my new skills by making 25 hats and scarves by November for the local women's shelter. Knitting with these needles is making that project so easy! I especially love the finely pointed tips which help this beginner get take up each stitch without any problems. And those points sure come in handy when binding off...you should see the contortions I go through! LOL But the wood helps keep the yarn from sliding very much and the points help me to get it right the first time around. Thanks, KnitPicks for coming up with these interchangeable needles! Now if I could just afford to buy all the other needles and yarns that I want...................... LOL
what kind of yarn do you use that allows you to use the interchangables? I have to use about a size US 2 to get decent gauge. Sadly I would be using only the cord if I had to knit with that. (though a simple little metal cap on the end would probably make that work...hmm.
I bought one each of size 0,1,2,3 of the fixed circulars for knitting socks. They now come in the long lengths and work wonderfully. The only time I use the interchangeables for socks is when I'm using a worsted or DK for big bed socks (my term), and then I usually use a size 4 - 5. With the Magic Loop the socks are knit in no time at all.
I love my harmony needles. (My favorite christmas present ever.) But I have had trouble with the plastic coming out of the metal. I know I should call customer service, but it generally pops back in with out trouble. My mom and I both use my set. We love them, and I can't wait to buy her, her own set.
I bought the set when it first came out. I thought it was beautiful when I saw it first online and when I received the set and saw the set in person... the needles were beautiful. My husband even bought the double pointed sock knitting set for me for Christmas. I love knitting with my Harmony needles. What a joy!! I had a minor problem with one of the tips and I contacted customer service and I promptly received a replacement set of tips. Wonderful needles and wonderful customer service.
I just recieve my set of harmony interchangeable needles. I couldn't wait to use them, I am making a shawl and wow it is going so well I can't believe it. I am not getting things all twisted up. I love them.
these are the most wonderful needles, so easy to knit with and so fine to look at as I knit
have several sizes in multiple numbers and will get every one
I just love to use them
I LOVE my harmony needles!!!!!!!!! I got the nickel plated set as a gift before the Harmony came out and loved the smoothness and glide but the tips hurt my fingers if I knitted too long. I needed and extra size 9 and tried the Harmony. I fell in love and now have both interchangeable sets. I never realized how useful 2 sets of needles could be!!!! The wooden needles are very hard and pointy but have the warmth of wood and for some reason they do not hurt my fingers. They are much more durable than bamboo and look beautiful.
I just got mine the other day, since I was having so much trouble with my other set of interchangeable needles, which shall remain nameless. After a bunch of stitches pulled off the old plastic needle for the umpteenth time, I broke down and ordered the Harmony needles, and it's like night and day. Aside from the fact that they are simply gorgeous, the wood feels really nice and substantial in my hands. The cable and join are much neater and the yarn slides really well, which with the 400+ stitches on there right now, comes in very handy. I've been eying them since they came out, and I'm really glad that I finally ordered them.
