Knitting New Mittens & Gloves by Robin Melanson - review by Melissa

Since we just launched the brand new colors of Palette, one of my favorite yarns, I’ve been anxious to use it, but I don’t exactly want to make a big stranded sweater in the middle of summer. The solution: colorful mittens & gloves.

Robin Melanson’s Knitting New Mittens & Gloves has quite a few great colorwork designs that I can’t wait to make in my own color combinations. The book also includes a large variety of mittens and gloves, which makes it perfect for gift knitting ideas. There is a good distribution of both gloves and mittens in both rugged and feminine styles. I love that she includes fingered and fingerless options for many of her designs, as well as ideas for layering.

The book also fits my criteria for layout and design. The photos are clear and attractive, the patterns include detailed charts, and the text is easy to read. I enjoyed reading Robin’s inspiration behind each pattern too. If you’re a glove wearer like me or you have a lot of recipients on your gift knitting list this year, I can’t recommend this book enough.”
