I think the problem(s) is how to re-write it out for following it. Speaking for myself, i guess! So it's usually a place in the pattern where it calls for doing something like moving stitches from X needle to Y needle to accomodate a particular pattern/stitch or sock procedure. I guess, it would help to know which directions of the dpn's pattern to ignore, and how to then execute them on the circs or m-loop
