Thanks for the encouragement about Puck!! He was made with red clothes because my hubs knew the baby's dad likes the Redwings (Hockey team). The sweater was made with scraps I had because I couldn't get the mom to respond to my email asking for her preferred colors! I sent her the KP link to shine sport with no help. She told me she got the email, but I guess it wasn't important to her. I just used what I had, then. Oh well. :) So glad YOU liked it! Was a lot of fun. Am planning to cast on another one with the KAL.

Thanks for your comments about the vest! I really enjoyed it. I'll be looking forward to hearing more details about your new ASJ.

Oh, that's so wonderful!! I really did think it would work. Thanks for letting me know! I will use that on my next Baby one. I have some lavendar and white self striping baby acrylic that will make a funny little jacket. Then I found some acrylic and nylon that feels like angora the other day- it's a lighter lavender, but I'm going to use it for the i-cord. I'm going to look for pictures of your adult surprise! Sounds great!

one of my daughters and two of her friends go every year and have to call each other to find where they have wondered, they have actually stayed overnight and went back the Sun. she always manages to find a lot of really cute stuff. Knitting happily, Irene

My 'super skill' with controlling striping--isn't! haha The pattern is a top down raglan cardi just knit back and forth so the stripes control themselves. I loved the way it looked as if I had done some engineering job on the sweater! What I did control was the placement of the lime green. I just let it happen in the upper section, but cut that color out of the yarn in the lower section. I thought it would be too 'jumpy' to have the green throughout. Also, the only 'add ons' were the front bands (no buttons). I chose where to start in the color sequencing so I had two slightly different purples. There, too, I wanted something quieter. I think much of this is on my Ravelry project page.

Glad you like so many of my projects. I'm slowly seaming the Noro tunic dress together. When it's done I'll have photos to share. Going back and forth between two balls of yarn is part of the pattern, but I'm using two of the same colorway instead of two different colorways. I also organized the skeins before I started so that I was using yarn which started in about the same place in sequence on the front and the back. There are actually places where the stripes sort of match! Ditto the sleeves. I wasn't trying to match everything, just make it not be all jumpy and crazy. I hate that in a pieced Noro garment.

Hi! Check out my project page for the Cable Tank on Ravelry. I'm 'DrMarta'. There are a number of photos of the i-cord in progress, and the cables, and lots of project notes. I had to make some changes at the end, but the final product is gorgeous!

Thanks at one time I did a lot of different things, crochet, then got into needlpoint and I just loved it. Now it is hard to see the grafts, I never got into quilting, my mother quilted , but nothing like what is on displayed at quilting shows now, even in a small town, the quilts were beautiful. Houston't quilt is so wonderful, have you gone and gotten lost like my DD does, Irene

I really can't believe it... I feel like a dummy!!! I thought that Aster Doily looked really familiar, but I couldn't figure out why. I went to look, and I HAVE THAT BOOK!!! When you very first said McCalls- I was thinking the Needlework Magazines, for some reason. That's why I asked for the name again after I saw the picture because it didn't look like a magazine page. Oh, that's so funny/strange. After I found the book, I remembered getting it at the local thrift store about 6 or 8 months ago. And the doily was the main reason I bought it. I noticed the sweaters in there, but I wasn't really interested in colorwork at the time. Now I sure am!! How do you know they're EZ? I couldn't find any notes in there. I feel silly, but so honored that you would think of me when you saw that doily pattern. :)

Oh, that makes sense about the pictures now. I originally thought you were talking about your pictures!! I did get my pictures loaded to Ravelry. They're HERE. But it is before I sewed up the shoulder. But you can see the striping I dreamed up. I used a #4 yarn with #4 needles and tried to knit tighter than usual for me- and I think it's probably newborn to 3 mo size. By looking at it, anyway. It won't block since it's acrylic- but it would stretch to fit a bigger baby if they needed it to. I had another idea for doing the flat buttonhole. You could knit 2 of the body together with the i-cord, do icord plain for 2 or 3 or 4 sts, then knit 2 body together with the next icord row. That would move those 2 body cast off sts to the sides a little. I would have to try it to see if it would work. ;) That pattern sounds wonderful! Let me see if I can get that sent to you. Thank you!

I should have read your post on Knitter's Almanac KAL before I left you the last note. I think there is a way to bind off with icord and make buttonholes at the same time, but I don't know if I'll be able to explain it. I just read about it in one of EZ's books, I think. I don't remember which one. I'm going to go search!! It is on page 106, 107 of Knitting Workshop. Do you have that one? Her directions say if you have already cast off and are adding i-cord- you would 3-4 rows of i-cord and skip 3-4 garter ridges to make a flat buttonhole. It seems to me that if you are casting off too, you could slip the live stitches over one another until you're ready to join the i-cord in again. Her other option is a loop buttonhole where you stop joining the i-cord for (she says 9) rows and then join it back on again- and it will make a loop. I think that would work when casting off, but I haven't tried it yet. I wish I had found this before you cast off!! She also has Tab buttonholes where she cast on 3 sts, worked 10 rounds of i-cord, then took out the original caston and kept those 3 sts live in a row with the 3 at the end of the icord and knit 3 ridges of garter st on those 6 st. Then joined that little tab to the cast off edge on the front. The picture is cute. It sure would be fiddly. :) Hope some of that makes sense!

I'm so glad the i-cord worked for you! Do you mean you used i-cord to close up the shoulder seams? What a cool idea. You could go from one cuff to the other across the back neck. Then reattach the yarn at the front neckline and go all the way around the opening to the other neck side. Great idea! Sounds cute! I just sewed the shoulders. Maybe I'll try the other on the next one. :)

I thought about doing that! I thought it sounded like a really cute idea to incorporate the buttonholes into the i-cord edge. I didn't do I-cord at all. I was trying to conserve yarn. My bind-off edge looks pretty tidy. I'll get some pics added pretty soon. :)
I sewed the shoulders last night! They look pretty good- I did the mattress stitch. I have 2 booties knit, one sewed up- but they aren't the same size! I'll probably have to make another one. I used the free BSJ Inspired Bootees pattern on Ravelry. And I cast on the Infant Earflap Hat last night and did the brim. I've never made a whole set like this. It's funny. Have a good day!

good morning!
The weather up here is a little weird. Af ew weeks ago it was frosty in the mornings, then we had rain, now it's just typical fall weather-cooler but nice..Camping season is almost over, and it seems that the seven months went soo quickly. Oh well..April is coming!!
I've been pretty busy knitting actually. Not many pics to show for it, but busy none the less. I've made a dozen Christmas stockings for my coworkers, along with dishcloths and a few other things to put in the stockings (the guys are getting candy etc). I'm almost done with my DH's Eeyore, and my son's keyboard scarf. I have about 2/3 left on my friend's afghan..Thus completes my Christmas knitting list..lol. I'm working on the mystery KAL (fear of steeking..eeek), and am about 2 weeks behind, but it does knit up quick, so I'm not real worried. About halfway done with my first Montavilla bag, which I think is going to be gifted. I'm also working on a baby afghan for a craft show I've decided to do--along with bunches of dishcloths and coasters..It's the second one I've done, and hopefully I'll make more dough with this one..sigh..this one if for my DS's school-Project Graduation (he's a senior). Whatever profit I make I plan on donating as well to help the kids out.
The bee blanket was for my Ravelry group-Harry Potter. It was the September Defense Against the Dark Arts class project.. we had to make something representing something "evil" we fought ovet the summer. Mine was the bees at my camper..I conjured up some flowers for them, so they are much happier : )
My gosh--sounds like a lot of fiber goin's on here doesn't it? Wow..I haven't even mentioned the wall hanging I want to male (quilted) or the 3 pairs of socks I have ready to start...or the .....well you get the idea....lol
have a lovely day..look forward to "seeing" you again...

Oh my goodness!! Your compliments... I'm afraid they may be slightly overdone!! But thank you so much! Yes, I would absolutely love to see them. Can you post photos of the pictures? Or if you have the date of publication- they may be on Ravelry. Maybe not, too. There is a lot of old stuff that isn't yet. Thanks for your compliments on the EZ sweater! It is fun. I'm planning one for my littler DD now- after this BSJ business is done!!

Re: owl sweater
yes! I've seen it and one of these days I will knit it up. One of my close friends who is expecting her first child in April, is owl crazy. The nursery is owl themed! Super cute!!!

Hi Cellogirl!
In answer to your question, no, I knit the bag from the outside in with decreases as the pattern suggested. I rather liked that, as when I got to the end the rows went faster and faster :o). And yes, most of my recent work is on Ravelry. My name there is kathydoughty. Are you there? What's your Ravelry name?
