I made my pattern up because I had never done any cables- so I just found some in a sweater pattern and cast on and did it! I actually made one for me first- but it turned out too narrow and long because it stretched so much, and I didn't put a wide enough border (seed st, I think) by one of my cable sections- so the one I made for my sis I put a wider seed st border on the whole thing- and tried my hand at knitting a reversible cable. I thought that looked intriguing. I will try to get pics of it. Having a hard time with my camera!!! Won't hold a charge. Silly thing. Back to the scrubber- I just made it out of cheap acrylic worsted because I had some from the thrift store- and it was just to practice my cables anyway. :) Lion Brand's is out of cotton, but I like the scratchy...

I am really determined to learn lace knitting or maybe it's knitted lace that I am doing (can't remember which is which lol) anyway I want to do both. I am just having trouble with one chart symbol which says no stitch, I am not sure how you do nothing with that stitch if there is a stitch on the needle. I am also working on my first pair of socks, I am at the heel right now so we shall see if I can get past that! I do hope to get knitting enough to post some pictures soon.

The swatch I made is 4 stitches/inch. Cast ON is 189 sts should be approx between 47 and 48 inches. I will ask Niqui, our daughter to measure it when she gets home tonight. I think it is longer than it is wide.

Hello Annette,

The #55 picture is Riley's blanket. The stitch is "Falling Leaves" multiples of 10 stitches + 3 and 16 rows. This was knit with 100% 2ply Cashmere.

The #58 picture is Niqui's bridal Sjaal. The stitch is "Knotted Openwork"
multiples of 3 stitches and 4 rows. This is also knit with the 100% 2ply Cashmere.
A similar stitch is "Braided Openwork" multiples of 2 stitches and 4 rows.

I have not used Crayon or Cotlin yet.

I recently knitted 1 blanket in Swish Bulky: color Marlin. The other one same pattern in Bare Superwash Bulky. Used #11 needle.

I love the Shine Sport and the choice of colors. The only negative factor would be the many, many "thread joints" you'd have to make. You cannot effectively use the S(spit) & R(rub) method. I dislike knots in my knitting. I use my own method. Dont know if I can post it on the Knitting Community since I have never seen any Knit Speak endorse this method. I you would like to try I can send it in a personal email?
Other yarns I have used and like for baby blankets is the Solid Sock Yarn: Essential. I also have used the equivalent of this yarn in the Bare Yarn and dyed it a suitable pastel and/or bright pastel color(s).
Also used succesfully (no allergic reactions!) Shepard Sporti Solid: Natural and Peach. Handpainted: Yellowstone.
In the Shepard Worsted:solid colors Desert Flower and Old Rose and the handpainted: Layette.
A few years ago I knitted a blanket for a summer baby in White Sea Island Cotton! This gets washed at LEAST once a week and stays as good(and softer!) than when it was made. I used a whole cone and since it is larger than most of the ones I have knitted, it constantly trailed everywhere once he started crawling and then walking etc. He'll be 3 this coming March.
David also has very, very sensative skin (as does his mom) and he has never had any averse reactions to any of the yarns I have used.
You can take a "look see" for these yarns I mentioned, but I dont know if I can mention them on my Page or Blog. I will make the inquiry, and, if you like to know plsease send me a personal email: icemmert@comcast.net.

Just learned you are looking to knit a baby blanket? I have done some in 100% cashmere. The pix are on my page ICE. They are all very simple but look great. I have knitted some other blankets wi th the machine washable Bare yarn from KPicks. if you cannot decipher the blanket patterns just drop me a line and i'll be glad to help.
