Aww you're welcome - thank you for your kindness! Stop by anytime... for now I am lurking around getting a feel for the site and honestly clicking the needles too much to type it seems... feeling a little pressure for the holidays. I hoped to be further along than I am and on top of it all I received my Clock Tam kit but HAVE to finish Christmas before I can even think about starting on it... :( - Always something to look forward to though... :)))
I just saw the comment about the vest you made your DH. Thank you for your kind input. I would love to see it and possibly look over the pattern. Your slideshow is lovley. I love the F@#$ hat!!! To cute... I am always knitting for my kids who have great senses of humor and when I see objects like your hat I can't help but think why didn't I think of that! :))
It surpriseing to hear you say Houston had a large Knitting Guild, I belonged to the Needlepoint and Embroidry Guilds, they were a lot of fun and very educational, The best lecture I attended was on color work, given by a very talented artist from NM, it was worth every dollor it cost us. Knitting Guild must be a lot of fun. Irene
Thanks for the tip. I have found that I can do it best with bright sun light or directly under a lamp after dark, but will check into the lamp you suggest. I have run into this before, but usually when working with finer weight. THe give one away KAL sounds like it was a good one to join.
Cheryl, how little did I know what a super lady I asked to be my friend, the way you help people, always willing to do research to help, By the list of your friends, they to have recongized what a neat person you are. Irene

you were so helpful earlier when I had a question and then I heard Kelly's podcast with you.
We love NM but there isn't much access to knitting support out here. My knitting mentor lives up in Ruidoso which is about an hour and 1/2 away. So don't get to visit with her often.
I am making the fair isle hat from knit picks and the yarn is really dark navy. I have trouble seeing the stitches and wondered if you had any good suggestions for me?
Love seeing your comments on knitpicks. I don't comment much and sometimes don't feel like I know where to go to ask for help so hope you don't mind me turning to you.

Oh, too bad we're so far away - my husband and I are both biochemists and teach organic. We think it's fun - but realize not many people share our opinion. Good for him to do that at our age - I would be so tired!! And lucky you to have a health care worker in the family. Oh, I listened to the podcast last night, so it's really funny that you mentioned it. I caught the mild southern accent, having grown up in Florida (my accent is gone now, though my husband swears I revert on the phone to my relatives).
Hi Cheryl, great hearing your voice, thanks for being there for me, in knitting and other things, you have alwys been so encourageing, if you are the same in your work as in your knitting you are a great sucess. Irene
You're right, that was very easy! I know that most of the stuff I've avoided doing with computers is probably quite simple, I just haven't gotten around to learning it. I keep blaming my daughter, who chose to leave high school a year early to go to college - I told her she cheated me out of that last year at home, when I'd intended to pick her brain about all this stuff! Really, I can learn it on my own, I just love to tease her. I'm looking forward to retirement - I'm burned out after 22 years of teaching college chemistry, mostly to students who hate chemistry and are annoyed that they have to take it (like nursing students). I should've been a teacher in the 1920s or so, when most everyone who went to college wanted to learn and worked at it, and didn't sit in class texting their friends when they are failing the class and should be listening and writing notes instead. Arrghh. Okay, enough venting for today. I always enjoy your posts, you're very helpful and explain things well.
I love the Christmas stockings in your photos. They remind me of the ones my grandma made us when I was little. You wouldn't happen to have a pattern or know of where I can get one like yours, would you? I have been looking for one with a Santa's face on it for a long time.
