Yarn Harlot and Irish Cottage Style Knitting

I sent this email to Stephanie today and thought I could gain some insight from my friends at KP:

I happened to stumble across a video of you on youtube today showing how you knit Irish Cottage Style found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P51GByV0H2w. I'm very interested in learning this technique and how exactly you hold the yarn. Also, does this work on circular needles? Any suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

Any input or links that anyone can add to help me with this will be greatly appreciated!!

Me, too! I'm just as fast with my circs. If you aren't happy with how you knit, this might be something to try, though. Sometimes what works for one person doesn't for another. It's wonderful to have access to all this information!

I've only seen one other person hold the yarn that way.

I think I will definitely use this method with dpn's but I'm not sure I would be able to give up my beloved KP circulars :) I'm still trying to grasp the way she holds her yarn though....lol

Amy, this is the first time I've seen this on the net but I know that one woman in the Houston guild uses this method. I'm glad that Kate showed the video that slowed it down. I hate it when someone is showing a technique and is using movements way too fast for someone to understand what they are doing. I will now have to keep an eye out for this method.

My SIL is from England, and this is how she knits. She's as fast as I am. I knit Continental style.
