Knitting Community

So two of my best friends are getting married this summer and they aren't registering for gifts because they are older and have all the basic necessities but I really wanted to do something for them. So I found this chart for the Tree of Life and am going to make a little accent pillow for them. I really wanted to do a blanket but with a baby due in July, a two year old and the wedding at the end of August I had to be realistic. Anyways, I knit it with double-stranded Bare so that it could be used and cleaned as necessary. I will be starting on the back sometime soon, probably just stockinette. I am really happy with the way it looks right now, hopefully they will be too.

What a beautiful blanket! A perfect gift for a couple that has almost everything. Can you tell us how they like it?
Great pattern!

That sounds like a wonderful idea! And very symbolic, too.

what a great idea. my middle daughter and her partner are being married next summer and i know they would love this. i would make it as a wall hanging with their names and the wedding date.
does anyone think two different colors for the tree trunks merging into a third color would be cool or ugly?
i would appreciate any comments. thanks
beautiful job.

I love the Tree of Life pattern! I have it and plan to make an afghan. Someday.

Just beautiful. And I do like the idea of adding the wedding date/names to it.

This is a beautiful idea -- I definitely will be trying this pattern.

Something you might want to consider is embroidering or double stitching the wedding date and/or the couples names on the back. My friend gave us a wedding sampler that we still have displayed in our home (12 years and counting.)

What a brilliant idea. I loved that pattern but thought the afghan overwhelming.

You should definitely just go for it. It really seems more difficult than it is. Just make the chart readable and have the abbreviations close by. I did this while watching tv so you can definitely do it. I have only cabled once before so I am no expert.

I have seen this pattern around and have the afghan pattern. I wanted to use it as a wedding gift and maybe for my parent's 50th Anniversary. I am a little nervous though because I have no experience with cables or charts yet, so it is still a little more than what I can chew yet. I LOVE the idea of using it as a pillow or wash cloths.
