Wedding Gift

So two of my best friends are getting married this summer and they aren't registering for gifts because they are older and have all the basic necessities but I really wanted to do something for them. So I found this chart for the Tree of Life and am going to make a little accent pillow for them. I really wanted to do a blanket but with a baby due in July, a two year old and the wedding at the end of August I had to be realistic. Anyways, I knit it with double-stranded Bare so that it could be used and cleaned as necessary. I will be starting on the back sometime soon, probably just stockinette. I am really happy with the way it looks right now, hopefully they will be too.

does anyone think two different colors for the tree trunks merging into a third color would be cool or ugly?

Something you might want to consider is embroidering or double stitching the wedding date and/or the couples names on the back. My friend gave us a wedding sampler that we still have displayed in our home (12 years and counting.)

Comment by Christy on May 12, 2009 at 1:28pm: You should definitely just go for it. It really seems more difficult than it is. Just make the chart readable and have the abbreviations close by. I did this while watching tv so you can definitely do it. I have only cabled once before so I am no expert.

I am a little nervous though because I have no experience with cables or charts yet, so it is still a little more than what I can chew yet. I LOVE the idea of using it as a pillow or wash cloths.
