We would ♥♥♥ a Spin-A-Long

To the entire KP knitting community:

Many knitters knitters in the KP knitting community are also spinners and there are lots of knitters interested in spinning. We would love KP to start a Spin-A-Long. If you would like to see a Spin-A-Long, please show your support by leaving a comment below.

This from someone who's only been spinning since sometime in June. I'm finding it easier to draft now that I've figured out to hold the fiber while drafting. Peggy kept saying to hold it as if you have a baby bird in hand and she is right!

Mary had purchased that ball of roving a few years ago at a fiber fest that she attended, but as she was organizing her stash last winter she decided that she didn't like the colors very well and thought they might be something I would like. I do like them - just hope I can do them justice when I spin!

The sugar cane fiber sounds really neat. Once I feel a little more accomplished I'd like to try some other fibers. In the box from Mary are several samples of silk and cotton, and one that she thinks is the milk fiber. It has an interesting feel. There is also a bag of a nice natural color sliver from the Amana woolen mill in Iowa. She has provided enough fiber to keep me spinning for quite a while! Somewhere in the basement, I also have some lovely soft grey lambs wool roving that I purchased from a friend in Kansas. It was the first shearing from one of her lambs. Lovely stuff, and deserving of a good spinner, so it may wait a bit!

Comment by christina | AlohaBlu on August 3, 2010 at 12:44am: Thanks for the info Cheryl. I googled and found their colors online - yum! I was just at my LYS last weekend and picked up a couple skeins of Aruacania's sock yarn - the Itata line. Next time I'll look for the Ruca Multi.

Now back to plying my 2nd batch of purple yarn. Wheeeeee!

I know, I know, very unreasonable for a BSJ but I didn't have a wee one to knit for but I really wanted to make a BSJ. When I saw the sugar cane, I had to have it because my father's family farm raised cane, the sugar kind. The BSJ adorns one of my baby dolls.

It is so wonderful, all of the spinners and knitters being able to show case their work, and talk about their techniques and what they have learned. This is wonderful!
