I am so pleased that the four colors for The Moderne Baby Blanket are working well together. I'm using Swish Worsted in Delft Heather, Copper, Merlot Heather and Camel Heather. I still have lots knitting!

I did enjoy knitting Delilia's Log Cabin blanket from the same book, Mason Dixon Knitting, but I didn't enjoy having it being the result of three failed attempts at a regular Moderne Baby Blanket. My inability to pull together four feminine colors that looked good together gave me a huge pile of yarns to use for the Log Cabin.

I just love having such a soothing, garter stitch project at hand. Bob's youngest son, Jon, is in town for two weeks. Then he will be shipping out to Iraq with a small group of Marines. I don't think I would be able to knit on a pair of socks for him just now. I need something to distract me from my rather over-active imagination. Once he ships out, I will be able to start a new pair of socks to send to him.

I love your blanket! I am making one for my new Grandson--due end of June. I am going to do the i-cord edging for this as well. I think it gives a very nice finish for this blanket.

Thanks for all your great ideas.

I am thinking about making a Moderne Baby Blanket to donate to the "afghans for Afghans" project. After all, it must be a fun project if Kelley keeps making so many. :-) I really like the idea of having a project of plain garter stitch that I can knit on while watching TV or visiting/talking. It seems like lately I have a hard time knitting anything with a pattern when there's the least bit of distraction going on. Must be an age thing... Anyway, I would like to try to use up some of my stash instead of buying new yarns for a well-planned out color scheme. I'm wondering what it would look like to use random color blocks from my stash instead of colors that match. Would it be better to make each block a separate color like usual or should I make each block out of several different colors? Has anyone done it this way?

Hi Kelley
I was listening to your Podcasts regarding the Moderne Baby Blanket and Mason Dixon Knitting. I checked out the book on your site and thought there is really nothing else I would knit in the book. When the next book came out I again checked it out and thought, well there are a few babies (FOUR) on thier way this Spring so I will pick up the books during your sale. I must tell you I AM HOOKED!! I have the Log Cabin on the needles and am now planning a Moderne to do next!!
Your glowing reviews on your casts I thought at first were a bit out of my league but wow there are tons and tons of things I have ear marked for after the baby blankets!! Thanks for the recommendations and showing all your finished projects they are inspirations!!

Hi Parislexi,

Well, everyone's computer sc rren quality is different but I would say it's probably my camera. I try to get as close as I can to true color but I don't spend a lot of time to perfect the color correction.

The Mason Dixon Knitting book sounds great! Delilas log cabin blanket looks just gorgeous. Seen a lot of variations from it and am ever so intrigued. But first it's finishing off some of my (oh, I don't know how many) UFOs, even if I have to frog them. Not that I don't like UFOs (I'm a self confessed knit-a-holic, so that's just part of who I am) but I am working on being a bit more self disciplined (and trust me, it's necessary). So first finishing off UFOs and then getting my long list of projects done. Finished a pair of socks and some fingerless gloves only this week (not planned but oh so nice!) on my commute. I've started another pair of socks already, but I will put them aside on Monday I think to start a shawl for my mum in-law. Especially bought some wonderful yarn with kid mohair for that, a lovely white and very fuzzy wuzzy. I so hope she'll love it as much as I do making it for her. She's such a wonderful person and the best mum in-law you could have / wish for.

I absolutely LOVE the colors you chose for the 1st blanket (Delft Heather, Copper, Merlot Heather and Camel Heather). However, the camel heather color (I assume it's the creamy looking color in the picture) looks quite different from the color represented on the Swish yarn web page. Hmmm., maybe it's my computer...!!

Kelley, Your blankets are gorgeous.
But, big misconception re: UFO KAL - this is not to discourage anything new or necessary... just production.

I listened to an older pod cast today re: Lace Knitting... and I have several hanks of lace weight yarn that I haven't touched as yet.l I am a UFO regular, but I want to do something with my Lace Weight yarn... and soon. Of course, these items are on my UFO list, so I guess it's OK. Susan

Great idea Kelley - I might pop over to the group and start a thread. I will need to cast on something new first - oh what a hardship - ha ha. I have just listened to the latest podcast and am itching to start more projects after listening to you talk about the sweater :) I must sit on my hands.....
