Knitting Community

I am in such a weird place in my knitting lately. Its to soon to have Holiday knitting stress isn't it? I'm really not knitting as much as I did last year. Mostly because the DD's wanted stuff early to use this fall/winter. So beside two pairs of thrummed mittens, a few hats, and three pairs of socks, some lumps of coal with Santa hats, and a pickle. Nothing really. :) The most time consuming knitting really are my co-workers socks because there are charts involved. Plain stockinette socks are a little quicker. I feel I should have more progress but in reality given everything I'm not that far behind or at least that's what I am telling myself for now. I know IOU's could still be in my future holiday gift giving but I'll chose to live in denial and positive thinking for now that I will get everything done.

Really I have one sock ready to cast off of one pair, the other pair?.....well.....That where my knitting I don't know what you would call it....truly knitting those two at a time for some reason is driving me nuts. Don't know why it is. So I had to make a decision...separate them! I am so glad I did its definitely going better. Maybe now I'm back on track. Another good thing came from separating them I had a made quite a few mistakes on one sock that I had not notice before (no surprise we all know how crazy last week was) so I had no problem ripping it out and will just work on the right one. Only thing is I am used to knitting one sock at a time with a 32" cable needle or dpns I'm having to get used to the 40" cable needle. Or buy maybe another needle? Boy am I bad or what?

Here a picture of the one that needs to be cast off. I still haven't decided on which cast method I am going to use.

Some really good news. Little mans fever is finally down! If he makes it through the night fever free then he passes the 24hr no fever without the help of meds and can go back to school! He is so excited and hopeful. *crossing fingers and toes*

Hope you had a good day,

Ruthmci: I never realized how many way there are to cast off a toe up sock. So I am experimenting a bit. The fist time I cast off loosely in the rib pattern like the pattern said but it seem a little tight so we'll see which one I 'll try next. It was fun to knit and I think if I wasn't trying to get Christmas knitting done then 2 at a time wouldn't frustrate me as much. So for now sticking to one at a time.
Susan : Thanks. You seem to be making great progress! Yay! Little man made it through the night fever free! He was so excited last night to go back to school.-K

Knit 4: Sock looks great! Hope all goes well with everything else. I'm a little more behind than I would like to be. I think I can make Christmas! So glad that little man is doing better. Nothing worse than a sick child who would rather be in school. --S

The sock looks good! I've never had to think about which method to use to cast off because I've never done a sock from the toe up. I'll have to try it soon. Good to hear Little Man is getting better.
