What a wonderful day for a Baby Shower! After the snow yesterday, this day started with lots of sunshine, even though it was still quite cold.

I got all of the baby items "stuffed" into the diaper bag on Friday... and here is a pic of the gift (note that I found the big blue bow).

You can view all of the items I knit here.

I was one of the first guests to arrive, and while the others were getting ready I kept busy working on the last alpaca sock I have to knit (not the last sock - sigh).

My DDIL is a veteranarian and all of the ladies she works with attended! She had several aunts, her grandmother, and several cousins in attendance, along with a host of friends. The shower was at the home of her sister.

Here is a pic of her sister (the hostess), who by the way is also expecting a baby due shortly before hers'.

Seated next to her are two friends from church, along with their 18 month old daughter.

Here is a pic of her grandmother, with friends and coworkers behind her.

There were several children in attendance, here is a pic of some of them.

Here is a picture of her gifts - there were a lot of gifts!

You can see my felted diaper bag with the big blue bow right in the middle.

Here are the other pictures of her gifts that I was able to take.

And this is my DDIL opening the BSJ which was wrapped in tissue paper inside the diaper bag.

My only regret is that I was unable to get better pics of the individual items... some were very nice and very different.
I was sitting next to my DDIL and was busy helping her instead of taking pictures.

And here is a pic of me with my DDIL. She is a wonderfully sweet young lady, and will be a great mom.

I have finished the baby shower knitting, but still have a large baby blanket and some more bibs and burp clothes that I would like to finish. Since the baby isn't due until the end of January, I think I can finish... once I finish my Christmas knitting.

Happy Knitting Everyone. --Susan

Carol, Thank you so much! Yes, I think they all know I regard her very highly! She is a wonderful young lady, and will be a great mom. This is the first time since I've been a grandma, that I have had a new little one to knit for - all of my other grandchildren were sadly born prior to my achievement of learning how to knit. Though they also get lots of knitted gifts! --S

Oh Susan, I love the picture of you and your DDIL. It is apparent she thinks the world of you, and with you thinking so highly of her, it makes everything great! I am sure many people left that shower thinking about how lucky both your DDIL and new little soon-to-be-born grandson really are. Your gifts were made with much love, and it shows.

Oh, yea! Several of the ladies asked me "When was I going 'professional'? Like my stuff isn't professional quality now! LOL My DDIL picked out the colors for the BSJ... but at the time I was going to knit a different sweater. The cute little buttons really made the sweater! The main comment made by all was that these items actually look like they will fit and can be used. I emphasized that everything was machine washable and dryable... of major importance for new mom's. --S

What a fun day!! I love the picture of the Mom holding the sweater up to the baby inside- to see if it is likely to 'fit'. My SIL did the exact same thing! I wish I had gotten a picture of it! That really made me laugh that both Moms-to-be did the same thing... Good job knitting! I bet your gifts were a big hit!

Thanks all! If I could have invited you all to attend, I would have had you right there with me! --S

Susan, this is absolutely wonderful. And your DDIL and you are positively beaming. Lotsa love for each other is what I can see. I'm confident you'll be looking forward to a wonderful time as a grandma. And I wish you so much more smiles and love and laugher than you clearly have already had. :) Hugs, Maria

What an inspiration for me! And the kimonos! I can't wait to start them! And the sweet little sweater from Jaeger Handknits! Nine days and I can start to knit without the cast! --P
