Swatching for Classic Lines Cardigan Knit-A-Long

I cast-off my swatch yesterday. Since I strung the yarn along the back of the swatch, I needed to cut the yarn. I made simple overhand knots along each side of the swatch to secure the stitches before giving the swatch a nice warm bath.

I am down to a 2 I think (still have to cast off, steek and wash).

Thanks. I never knew to swatch like this. I am also curious as to the needle size you are using. I'm using a 3! It's relaxing in the Florida keys. Seriously I'm curious if I'm doing this right. Thanks

I love the tip for making a knitting in the round swatch flat. I can see how the accent color warms up or cools down the raisin.

I really like the idea of a practice steek. Kelley I am curious what size needles you are ending up using because I am also a loose knitter.

Kelley: If you're not planning on reusing the yarn, you could also knit the same number of sts in the round, but without the long strand carried across the back. When you're done, you can make--eek--a steek. It might be a good way to get your feet wet if you've never steeked before. Nice demo. This is the method I use (what you showed.) I'm afraid to cut anything in case I run out of yarn and can't get more. I would hate to have to used washed yarn, but if I'm desperate, and usually, it's just for a pocket. I can't wait to see you finished cardi! --Peggy
