Swatching for Classic Lines Cardigan Knit-A-Long

I cast-off my swatch yesterday. Since I strung the yarn along the back of the swatch, I needed to cut the yarn. I made simple overhand knots along each side of the swatch to secure the stitches before giving the swatch a nice warm bath.

Comment by Peggy Stuart on April 2, 2009 at 12:48pm: Kelley: If you're not planning on reusing the yarn, you could also knit the same number of sts in the round, but without the long strand carried across the back. When you're done, you can make--eek--a steek. It might be a good way to get your feet wet if you've never steeked before. Nice demo. This is the method I use (what you showed.) I'm afraid to cut anything in case I run out of yarn and can't get more. I would hate to have to used washed yarn, but if I'm desperate, and usually, it's just for a pocket.
