Speed Knitting Contest Update #5- We have a winner!

Wow.

The competition started at 9am on Monday, February 2nd, and our contestants have been knitting furiously ever since. I'm not even sure some of them stopped to eat or sleep! That gorgeous Hemlock Ring Blanket was completed by Cristi-Lael at 2:54 (PST). Congratulations Cristi-Lael!!! She knit the whole thing in less than 72 hours!!!

Our runner up, Ruthmci, finished her blanket at 3:03 (PST). It was an incredibly close race!

All of us here in the office are very impressed by the dedication and speed of all our contestants. Thanks so much for playing along!

Peggy Stuart rounded out the top 3, finishing her blanket at 4:05. Nice work! Cranberry must be a lucky color, don't you think?

And if you didn't get to join in the fun, it's not too late, the contest knitalong has been converted to a Hemlock Ring Blanket knitalong for people who are still working on their blankets or for anyone who is inspired by Cristi-Lael, Ruthmci, and Peggy and wants to knit a Hemlock Ring Blanket of their own.

I soooooo love this afghan pattern... since I first saw it on the web over a year ago. I bought a knitted doily book since and tried my hand at the style of converting a doily to an afghan. The one I've made so far only came out to be 2 1/2 feet across or so. It looks good on the back of a chair. I am especially interested in this pattern since it is charted and can be continued and made as big as you want. Thanks for the boost. I am going to make it!!

You gals are so inspiring. Congratulations to Christi and all who participated. I'm on vacation in Florida and did bring projects along to work on but think I should just put them back into the suitcase and start this throw.

Congratulations to your all! You have inspired me! I plan on ordering in the next few days and starting mine next week. I am not that fast a knitter and wouldn't have dreamed of entering the contest. But I love the pattern and have a very good friend who needs something very special. I think this is it. See the rest of you in the KAL.
