Socks from the toe up: Did I mention I really like this!

Oh, yes. I do really like this. Perhaps I have been doing socks for, oh, say, 17 years from the top down. And if I were to actually count how many pairs that would be, well, let us just say it would be quite a few pairs. I am enamored with the toe up method and process. What can I say? I am even doing them with two circular needles. I have not given up the double pointed needles nor have I given up on socks from the top down. I am just enjoying something different.

The orange socks are done. I used the russian bind off. Adequate, but not my favorite for this sock. Since then I went stash diving and found some Zauberball I had used on another project (not socks) and found I had just enough for a pair. I used the sewn bind off for these. I like it much better than the previous bind off.

Now I can't stop. I have started two more pairs. The patriotic socks are from Skacel, and the other is Socks that Rock, in the Rock Star colorway.

Summer sock knitting! What could be more fun? Oh, I know, my spinning wheel is feeling neglected. Keep Knitting!

Donna, the sock patterns are from the Socks from the toe up by Wendy Johnson. I mentioned it one the previous blog posting. I am leaving to go to the Sock Summit tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Hey Lady! How you doing? Did you love your cruise??? Hope you had a great time. Hey, thanks for the patterns on purses, I'm going to have to see if Jim can help me get them open, apparently I don't have the program they open in. Oh, what about these awesome toe up socks your doing? Where do I go to get the pattern? I finished my self stripping tube socks for my sister Vicki and she loves them! She says they are really soft and pretty. I'll see if I can find the pictures I took of them and add one. Right now I'm working on a afghan for my son Rich in Tennessee, he's been whinning for one for a while and reminded me I said "when I retire"........... also working on a pair of those toeless socks for his wife. I''ve been trying to get measurement from her on her ankle and width of foot just behind toes since she's so thin. I made her the right size on one and thought before I start the other I should try and customize a little to make sure they fit right. The yarn is a stretch yarn, kind of different to work with, but nice texture after knitted up. While got a meeting with my Welcome Wagon that I have to be there for to take minutes, so I'll let you go. God bless!

Love the colors in the (Zauberball?) second pair of socks! Finding a decent bind off has been one of my stumbling blocks with toe up socks. I'll try the sewn bind off next time and see how that goes...

I've never tried toe up--so far in this blog reading I'm doigntoday, I've seen 2 new things to try--and since I just finally got Cookie A' s sock book, I have a realllly good idea how to invent my own patterns (go me). I now have 4 pairs of socks on my new UFO list-2 from her book. socks rock!!!

I love socks in the summer. No heavy project across your lap during the warm months. (Or in my case, the warm couple of weeks!) I like cuff down and toe up, dpns, two circs, and I'm sure if I had long enough needles in the right size to do ML, I would like that, too. (I learned how to do it for my hemi, and it was easy.) The only thing I don't like is two at once. I like to admire the first one while I do the second, which usually goes faster, because I know what I'm doing and I can't wait to give them or wear them. Go socks! (BTW, your socks look fantanstic. I think I have the pattern you used for the orange socks, or one just like it.) Happy knitting! --P
