Thanks for the comments on the socks Christine

Camila, while we not officially retired in that we don't get a state pension we are disable so don't work so it like being retired without some of the benefits one being our mortgage we still have a couple more years lol

I got to look at my stash yesterday & that was only what i have packed in suitcases not what in the cupboard in the shed which i know i have yardage out there, & was surprised at what i really got.

I love the 1930s fabric & have a fair bit of that so am thinking may do a pinwheel one using WoW as background colour i saw a method where you sew a 1/4 around the 2 squares which are together & then cut it & then put it together as a pinwheel here a link to it

after trying this out i actually cut different size squares so see what size the blocks when done would come out so i can do this method for any size i wish

I don't know what other patterns i may consider thinking again 30s & WoW doing flying geese & i already have some blocks done which are half triangles sewn together so may be able to use those in the other quilt that would be a scrappy one as they are mixed fabrics of reproduction of civil war style have to give it a bit of thought on that one.

Hugs Janice

Awwww are such a good person to give such a wonderful hand made gift...I hope all of our recepients understand a little of our hearts go into each stitch...You will be so busy...but if you want something done...ask a busy person..right?

Fons and Porter have a basic book..that I have..there is an angel applique in that book..I have made many of them in pillows and quilts..their work is easy to follow and very beautiful..try may have some free patterns...I do understand a budget..we are retired..However if you ask my hubby...he will tell you I just buy what I want anyhow for my knitting and quilting lol

God bless you for all your hard work Janice

Thank you All

For your lovely comments on my socks, i would like to do some fair isle socks but will have to wait to i can get some solid/plain colours to do it, not sure why lace & me have never gone together i love it but i find i am not so good at lace without the extra bit of being on socks but may be i will find a pattern that i like & give them a go

On to the Quilting & the Books/DVDs well i have some wedding gifts to make i would like to do 3 quilts 1 for each wedding but 2 is a must 1 is for a cousin she marries in May & the other is for DD who marries in October the other wedding is for a friend she marries a week later after cousin's wedding so you see that is a touch & go if i get it done

We did have a channel that was showing Quilt in a Day & that where i seen some of the shows which are on the DVDs i bought as after seeing them i got the books & now would like the DVD to go with them, I also have a few of her templates.

I not seen any other shows so not sure what Fons & Porter are like but i do enjoy their magazines that i have seen, here everything is so much more expensive even if we can get it

To give an example here i can get 5 metres of WoW for £30 plus postage i just ordered 10 yards of WoW fabric with shipping from the USA for £33.76 ($52.95) so you can see for the same money i get double the amount as i know postage would have been at least £3 possible up to £4.50
