Knitting Community

Knitting Lesson
Take a deep breath and gather your courage! Kelley talks you through fixing mistakes and missteps in your knitting. You can do it! She also chats with Knit Picks employees Kerin and Kate about their own knitting disasters.

New Podcast Segments
Kelley and Alison introduce two new segments for the podcast, "Knitting Superheroes" and "Cry on Kelley's Shoulder." If you're a Knitting Superhero, tell us about a knitting challenge that you overcame. If things aren't going so well on your project, email us about it so that you can "Cry on Kelley's Shoulder" and get a little help on how to move your knitting forward.

To submit your story and possibly be interviewed for a future podcast, email your story to podcast@knitpicks.com. Remember, not every story will be chosen. Thanks for participating!

Out and About with Kelley
Kelley rolled a little bit of tape at the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR this past weekend so that you could get a little audio snapshot of sheep and shopping. Find her blog post with pictures right here.

Wow, this episod really hit home ... I just restarted a sweater that I determined was going to end up too small, after knitting the body and one sleeve. I did a gauge swatch and checked the measurements, but ... ya know, 1/2" ease in the bust was just not going to cut it. I don't know what I was thinking; at least it was good practice because the second time around is going muc h faster, lol.

Hi Leta,
I used the cable pattern from this afghan and heavily modified it for my afghan - but this original would do fine as well for pillows! Good luck :)

I would love to see this cable pineapple pattern! My BFF from high school got married in a land far far away & since NO ONE was invited & I was getting ready to go to Iraq when she had her receptions I never got the chance to give her a proper gift (that was in 2004). They had pineapples carved into their bed at the resort & now have one in their home. If a certian special lady remembered the pattern, maybe she could share it & I could turn it into a set of pillows?????

Hi Denise,

At the top of the main podcast page, there is a button with Xena wearing a "Hero" cape. Just click on that button and send your story.

Thanks!

knitgoddess--could it be your audioplayer's visuals you are looking at? When I used Wondowsmedia player, it does different visualizations..so I switched back to ole faithful winamp...

The very best possible advice came in the first 30 seconds of the podcast. Stop and breathe. And the next best 30 seconds later: Wait. No other advice will help the knitter who doesn't take these first three steps.
I can tell this is going to be a great podcast!

Great podcast! So many times it IS just the wrong, fatuged look at the project, or a missed YO or wrong decrease! You nailed the biggies! Thanks!

As much as I like the music, I detest the visual star wars displayed. You need to show a visual with yarn, needles and some lovely hands demonstrating the technique in your demonstration. When will you change this? I enjoy the podcast--I need to see something other than dots and colors flying around! I will not continue until you choose to change this. Am I the only one who cannot stand not having real hands demonstrating the latest? Knitgoddess

My favorite memory of the podcast is when Xena's bark was added back to the end.
Just for the record, I enjoy the information about i-cords :-)
