I think am finding that you must knit with a yarn you really really like (be it a nice acrylic or otherwise) even if you are giving it away, because it's important to enjoy the knitting as much as the wearing/using or giving. I'm learning this the hard way, too, as I knit up a pair of socks on "sale" yarn from my lys. I am slogging through them because I like knitted socks, but the colors are less than delightful and not really "me." I will consider this a learning experience all around as I practice my short-row heels PS: My KP order with new sock yarn is being shipped as I write this!!! :)
Comment by cherylbwaters on May 7, 2012 at 8:17am Welcome to this wonderful group, Kory. It sounds like you are already growing into a great knitter. If you have any questions, just ask - whether it be about knitting or how to use this site. If you look above the comment box, there are some icons. Unless you are using an iPad where the icons don't appear, and perhaps other pads, the second one on the left is for inserting pictures. There is nothing more satisfying than knitting something up for a gift.
Kory, I know what you mean about KP yarns... I got whatever I could before that (no local yarn stores in my neighborhood)... and a lot of it was acrylic (yuck)... but KP has turned me into a yarn snob. Great, high quality yarns at reasonable prices... I hope your baby blankets come out nice. Would love to see them.
