Yay - I am finally finished with my Suri Dream afghan! It took a little over two months of sporadic knitting, but here it is. I used the Bayou color of Suri Dream Hand Dyed and knit on size 11 needles. I cast on 150 stitches and just kept going until I used up all 9 balls of yarn. The afghan is pretty stretchy, but I'd estimate its unstretched size at 65" square.

Hi Vikeena,
Suri Dream is a single strand - the color cards show extra so you can get the best possible representation of the color. Suri Dream is made Suri alpaca that is bound in boucle construction with a wool wrapped nylon binder cord. Then, the boucle loops are cut and brushed to get all that yummy fuzziness.

Regarding your Beatifual Afgan:
I received my Suri Dream and Suri Handpainted color cards recently. I now have an accurate representation of the colors. I am curious about the makeup of the yarn itself. The color samples (for Suri Dream) had two "strands" each to depict each colors. This is my question: Do knitpicks' Suri yarns consist of ONE or TWO strands/plies? Thanks!

Hi Sewcrazy,

My parents found that secretary at an antique shop for $39! but it was in really bad shape. My mom refinished the top, and my dad re-veneered the front including the center drawer. It's a treasure now!

Tina,
It is lovely, but I really liked your secretary next to the knitting chair. hmm Send that ugly old thing here, it matches my chiffirobe. heh heh. Unfortunately, now I have to get some suri for myself! Evil woman!

This makes me even more excited to get my Suri Dream! Thanks for putting on YouTube. It was nice see how it look when you had your hand under it.

Hi vikeena,

Yes, I did use circular needles - I think they were 40" long, and they worked very well. The stitches bunch up in the center of the cable when you're not knitting, so you don't really have to worry about stitches falling off the needles. Circular needles make it easier to stop in the middle of a row, too, if you need too.

Tina, did you use circular needles? Is so, how long were they? Is that a dumb question? I have to ask because I have never knitted anything that big and haven't used Suri Dream. Your afgan is beautiful. Good idea to put it on YouTube. It is hard to tell what a yarn will knit up to really look like, especially when you only have on-line photos of balls of yarn. I have ordered a bunch of the color cards but they haven't arrived yet!

I had started one of these several months ago. I left it within 1/2 mile of our new puppy who is teething (way worse than a baby, by the way), and he destroyed one of my 60" cables... thankfully the Harmony Needle stips weren't chewed up too. And the yarn is still in tact. I unscrewed the needle tips, put it away, and haven't had the heart to look at it since. Guess I need to dig it out and do damage control

Tina, this is really pretty. Love the color. I chose a color that I think is now discontinued - a multi color with amethyst in it... I forget the name.
