The end of the school year came and went. I have a limited amount of time for summer vacation. I had a fantasy that summer would hold a bit of a knit-a-thon. During the end of school, I got very little accomplished knittingwise. I did finally finish my second pair of socks for myself. i usually give them away. I tore through a pair for my DP. I thought I was being smart having her try on the unfinished pair, but in the end they did not fit. I ended up frogging them and have not started the new pair yet. I have the patterns and yarn for two other pairs of socks. I would like to catch up. Even if I have not accomplished much on the knitting front. I have started swimming 1 mile 4 times a week. I am considering doing a 100 mile challenge over the course of the school year. I think I need to set some knitting and exercise goals for the year.
My DD and I finally were able to attend the a local knitting group at the library. She was getting a little antsy and one of the other ladies got her started on crochet. She can manage to sit quietly and keep at it. She has requested patterns and we picked up two reference books at the library. She is wise in her choices of stitch dictionary books. I am hoping that she really takes to it. She has managed to teach herself single crochet from a book as well as pick up double crochet from a book, youtube, and some of my advice. She has started crocheting some book worms. I think her future goals may include some Dr. Who patterns. I may end up brushing up on crochet as a result of her new interest. If she becomes prolific, then she can assist in my knitting/crocheting down the stash.project.

That is so exciting, Julie. I didn't stick with the knitting bug when I was little because my mom was too critical of my work. So be sure to encourage her and let her know what a great job she is doing.

I am hoping she will stay with it. Her two stitch dictionaries arrived this week. I think we will need to do some googlie eye shopping for her book worms. She is 3/4 finished with her first one.

How exciting that your sweet DD has an interest in crochet so early in life. It will be fun to do some stash busting with her.
