Knitting Community

It’s the holiday season, and we know many of you have been busy the last couple of months knitting gifts until your fingers are numb. If you’ve blown your yarn budget on yarn to knit gifts for other people, and you’re slightly worried your friends and loved ones didn’t get the memo about buying you a Knit Picks gift certificate for your stocking, we’ve got the perfect holiday gift just for you. Free Knit Picks yarn!

Now wait. Keep reading. There are important details to come, and if you don’t follow the instructions below, you’ll take yourself out of the running.

We’ve picked 3 of our favorite patterns from the new Winter Knitty, and we’re going to pick 1 lucky Knit Picks customer per pattern and give them the yarn they need to knit that project. We’ve already picked the perfect Knit Picks yarn substitution for each project, and we’ve selected three colors for each winner to choose from- a warm, a cool, and a wildcard. To enter to win, comment back with your Ravelry name (and/or blog URL), which of these 3 Knitty patterns you’ve got in your queue and want to knit next, and the reason why you picked that pattern. Enter before Friday, December 19th.

Our three favorite patterns from the Winter Knitty (in no particular order!):

Amused by Jordana Paige in Swish Worsted
Surface by Norah Gaughan in Merino Style
Everybody Knows by Weaverknits in Wool of the Andes Kettle Dye

I will contact the winners by private message to find out your size, mailing address, and which color you’d like. Our in-house judges will pick winners based on their written reason why they want to knit the pattern and the level of their activity on Ravelry and/or in the blogosphere. All 3 winners will be announced on the staff blog on Monday, December 22nd. So just comment on this post, and get ready to curl up in a cozy chair, needles in hand, and unwind while knitting something super indulgent for yourself for free! Good luck and happy holidays!

Surface by Norah Gaughan is absolutely beautiful , I wat to knit this for my grandduaghter Kerian. She adores sweaters and the color will be stricking with her beautiful red hair. The style is very "now" and timeless. I have taught her to knit, but having something that her grand made for her of this caliber wiil be, in her own words"2 die 4"

Sorry for the unexpected delay. I'm blaming Artic Blast 08 here in the Northwest. The winners have now been posted in a new blog entry posted on the main page. Happy holidays!!

My ravelry ID is debbilynn42 and my favorite is the "Amused" sweater. So adorable! I've been looking for a new project and it would be just perfect ;-)

My ravelry id is db2esthert.

I really live "Surface" and I think the pattern is classic and also very special pinapple pop designs. This pattern will enrich my knitting skills on garment construction which I am trying to knit jacket. I did this challenge to learn piecing jacket together, though I am a avid sewer but not as knitter. This jacket will add to be my winter woredore! I am making a rule starting 2009 to be a "Hand Made" year!!

Happy Holiday to everyonne

Esther

Cheers!

I use the same ID here as on Ravelry: brookscuit. I'd like to make "Everybody Knows". I'm into simple knits right now because of the kiddos. I like to be able to knit and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. I don't blog much or spend too much time online because, well, I could be knitting....

Oh, it's a hard choice but I think my favorite is Amused. It was the first sweater I looked at on Knitty because I love the cabling on it! My Ravelry ID is Wendeluu.

My ravelry ID is Funkyknitting, and I have "Amused" in my queue, I really love the pattern around the neck!! I've been knitting for about 6 years, but only just started knitting stuff other than scarves, and I think this would be a fabulous project to boost my knitting skills with!! Also, it is really pretty, and I'd love to make one.

MY Ravelry ID is "joyja" and I am dying to cast on Surface. I love Nora's design and this sweater has a classic, timeless style to it.
