The Bad News: the kettle dyed versions of Stroll and Shadow are being discontinued.

The Good News: they're being replaced with a new tonal hand dyed yarn that I find incredibly beautiful.

More Good News: Shadow Kettle Dyed Lace Yarn is on sale!

I had some Shadow Kettle Dyed in Bordeaux in my stash, and I wanted a quick knit for a flight I was taking. The free Citron shawlette pattern by Hilary Smith Callis (who also has a beautiful cardigan pattern in our Independent Designer Partnership Program) had been showing up in my Ravelry friends activity feed, so I downloaded it and got to work!

It's a clever little pattern, and each ruched stripe is created by knitting a series of M1 increases, knitting plain for a few rows, then decreasing across the row. I like how it broke up the color in my kettle dyed yarn, and it knit up quickly on size 8 needles.

Alison I don't know if I should say you are a good influence or a bad one. First I had to knit the CLiC , which I thought so nice when you first posted it and now this. So instead of knitting my CLiC last night like a good girl no I had to take my new Zephyr's for a spin and with some Shadow Kettle Dyed in Jay cast on for this project. Considering I love the way it is knitting up I'll say your a good influence. :)
Thanks for another great idea.

Wow, that looks great! I wonder how it would look in Shimmer... I have a single skein of the old Sunkissed colorway.

Wow, Alison. I saw your picture and did a double take. I just finished the exact same shawlette in the exact same yarn. Aren't they pretty. It was a really fast knit and the yarn is soft and beautiful. I will miss this yarn but am really looking forward to the new line. You guys always come up with great new ideas. The tonals look yummy.

I am so very excited for the tonal yarns, but I am very sad to see the kettle-dyed yarns go. I know they are similar effects, but different enough that I know I'm going to miss the kettle-dyed still. Alas! I love love your Citron. I keep seeing it pop up on Rav too and I really love yours.
