Just in time for the holidays - a Knitpicks.com Wishlist!

Our IT department has been working hard over the last few months rebuilding our shopping cart system to give our shoppers a better experience.

Note: If you are redirected to the homepage or a broken page after adding an item to your cart, please delete your Knitpicks cookies. This should resolve the problem. See our FAQ for more information.

  • For starters, we're excited to introduce our first Wishlist. You can add products to your wishlist from any page, move items from your Cart to your Wishlist, and send your Wishlist to friends and family who might need more than a subtle hint when buying the right gift for you.
  • The best part? The wishlist you send to others will update whenever you make a change. Change your mind or want to change the quantity of a yarn? No problem, make the change and when your SO gets his/her email, they'll see the updated version. Currently, you won't know when an item has been purchased from the wishlist, so if you plan on sending your wishlist out to multiple people, be sure to let them know who else is gift shopping from it! Use the optional "Message" field to include notes to your wishlist recipient.
  • The former "Save for Later" section is now "Notify Me". Any time an item is out of stock, just click the Notify Me button and we'll send you an email letting you know when it is available.
  • You'll find both of these on the same page as your Shopping Cart. Using "tabs" we've made it easy to flip back and forth between your Cart and Wishlist for when just can't decide how much to buy. :)
  • You'll also find a convenient "Login/Logout" link in the top-right corner of the page, above your Cart button. You'll need to log-in to use the wishlist - so we can remember it next time you visit us.
  • Finally, we've made the Checkout process much smoother and quicker. Once you're ready to place your order, you'll enter all your information in one place and review your order before submission.

If you have any problems using the new cart, please send us an email and we'll look into it. Thanks for your help making Knit Picks better!

Oops, sorry; forgot one of my other BIG 'wishes' - that we could right-click an item in the list (or Cart) and have it give us the item's page to go to rather than just link to the list we're on. Thanks!

Johann,
When you "share" your wishlist, all you are doing is emailing it to them via KP. No password exchange required. --S

How can we actually SEND a wish list?

How can we make a wish list public, i.e., not have to give our password to the person we send the wish list to? You're worried about security, but you're loosening security by making the recipient have to use a password to gain access to the list! I'd like to put a link to my wish list on my blog, but if I do that, I also have to tell the world my password in order to make it useable.

Great idea to be able to add the proposed project with the yarn on the wish list. I, too, have problems remembering what I was going to do with that specific yarn. Perhaps it could come from the configuration page that is used on projects; only, with the project being one of my own choosing. However, the entire concept of the wish list is wonderful. Good thinking! Gretchen

Great ideas you are adding - I'd also love to see the Cart organized by PRODUCT alphabetically, then color, rather than everything alphabetically - too difficult to keep track of things the way it is right now... plus the idea of being allowed to group items into "Project Bundles" in the Wishlist planning stage is brilliant (thanks, YO All Else ! ). I am also VERY pleased that the page returns to the original product page I ordered from more times now than not - when I am returned to the original product page EVERY time after I add to my cart or wishlist, life will be perfect. Keep up the great work, and thanks!

This is a wonderful feature! I can email it to my hubby and he can get me exactly what he wants to get me! Something I really want! Makes his life easier and mine! LOVE IT!!!!

I am thrilled to have the Wishlist feature! I don't know how many times I've looked at knitting books on the site and then when ready to buy them couldn't remember the name! I agree about being able to make notes to myself. I have a few skeins on the wishlist which I don't recall the project I had in mind when I marked them. I love web stores with wishlist features that I can share with loved ones. It lets them buy something that I will surely love, without them feeling tacky about a gift card and not risking buying something I already have.
