What a great idea. I've just joined this because maybe, maybe it will get me moving again on what was probably a rather ambitious project for me in the first place: the 'Sampler' afghan from Debbie Abraham's book, '100 afghan squares to knit'. I hate to say but I began it 4 or 5 years ago and of the 99 or so squares I'm supposed to make I've made only about 17. Since I started I've been side-tracked by easily a 100 other knits (need I say more). My rules for myself, and I'm being very kind here: I have to knit only one square a month ... that way I might really get into it again and knit more. This has got to be fun! On the other hand I could 'bank' squares and knit more one month and none the next. The reward for me is that one day this gorgeous sampler might grace my bed, and the second reward is that I might not feel so guilty about the enormous amount of yarn I bought for this project. Well, wish me well, fellow UFO quester. I'll keep you informed.

Liz: Welcome to the UFO KAL. I think it has made us all more aware of our projects that have been hibernating. Good luck with your afghan! I hope you get yours done before I get mine done? --Peggy

Blankets are quite a bit of work. When I work on a blanket (if the pattern is simple enough), I watch a movie or a t.v. show my dad recorded for me (we don't have cable). That way I can pause it if I make a mistake or need to change colors, but it helps pass the time. I love knitting, but with a long term project like that, it's easy to get bored after a while. :) Watching something while I work helps keep it fun. Now if I could just figure out how to read and knit at the same time! ;)
