It's the most colorful time of the year

I don't know about you, but when I catch that first whiff of fall, all I can think is COLORWORK!

There's just something about the changing seasons that makes me want to sit back with a cup of coffee and several richly colored yarns and make some knitted art. I've started my very own Corrie Vest, though I'll have to admit to taking a few liberties with the color - hey, designer's prerogative, right?

I'm not that far into it yet, but I'm really looking forward to wearing this all winter. I'm a total geek for sweater vests, but I only have one. Just one! It is so hard to find one that's short enough for me. With that in mind, I wrote the pattern for Petite, Average and Tall heights. I'm definitely knitting the Petite size! ;-)

Since this is totally colorwork season, we have a ton of awesome colorwork kits out right now. Everything from the Hugo hat, which is a slip stitch pattern cleverly disguised as something more complicated, to the East Meets West bags, which are fair isle and then some. If you're screaming for some colorwork but haven't tried it before, try the Maeve Hat & Mittens set. Not only is is totally cute, but it will take you step-by-step through your first Fair Isle pattern, from reading the charts to tacking long floats.

Just in time for holiday knitting are the Modern Classics Stockings. They're a wonderful re-interpretation of that holiday staple without being goofy or overly bright. But if goofy and bright is your thing, try the Clock Tams! That is one hat that will always start a conversation.

Whether it's one of our new kits or another colorwork adventure, come join us in the Colorwork Knitalong and share your love of color with the rest of us. I'll be plugging along on my vest, and I'd love to see what you're up to, as well. Viva la colorwork!

We're so glad you are back, Sewcrazy! Just think of all those projects as WIPs instead of UFOs. That's what I do because I intend to finish all of them.

Great. Fine. Argg! So now that I can finally knit again...I get to start a new project in colorwork. I have these um...ufo things to finish. What? Well there is a bit of room in the ufo box for one more... Hmmm, maybe a lovely pair of argyle socks? or something? Actually, anything new would be good at this point. I have been struggling with my lace shawls a bit as my dexterity has been off since the chemo. Now a nice stocking knit with a pattern and lots of colors sounds just wonderful.

KP has outdone themselves with all of this years colorwork and the kits you have put together.

One of the fun things about Fair Isle is we can choose our own colors, with or without contrast. It makes it so much more interesting! --P
