There are only pictures of the finished product. Even on the pattern itself, if shows a small, badly lighted picture of the finished tail--nothing in process. I will just have to figure it out somehow. Thanks anyway!

Drat, the posting compressed the spaces out, so my diagram doesn't look anything like I meant it to. To be a tail for a cat, my interpretation probably isn't correct, you would want long and skinny rather than the block of triangles I was imagining. Is there a picture with the pattern so that you can recognize what you are supposed to get?

It's a tail for a cat. Thank you for explaining. I will try that out. If I have any more questions, I'll be sure to ask! Thanks a lot! :)

What is the shape you are aiming for? My guess from what you wrote is that this is some short row shaping that will result in alternating wedges. Like this (sort of, the long row ends will pull together):
1. knit 16 stitches -> xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. knit 10 <- xxxxxxxxxx
3. knit 10 -> xxxxxxxxxx
1. knit all 16 <- xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. a different 10 -> xxxxxxxxxx
3. 10 again <- xxxxxxxxxx
1. knit 16 -> xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. knit 10 <- xxxxxxxxxx
and so on. It will be triangular wedges like /\/\/\/\.
