Knitting Community

As soon as I saw the Winter 2008 issue of Interweave Knits, I knew I had to knit the Positano Tote for my sister - for Christmas! Yikes! My yarn, Wool of the Andes in Amber Heather just arrived yesterday, so I cast on right away. I'm going to be a busy knitter for the next couple weeks - I hope I can make it!

What about you? Any gift knitting goals you're worried about reaching?

I'm cranking out the Maja shawl from the latest Knitty for my grandma. It would work look great in Elegance yarn (or knit up even faster in Andean Silk). Cross your fingers that I will finish this in time to mail out by Christmas.

I'm whipping my way through a shawl-collar sweater from an old Better Homes and Gardens pattern book, "Knitted Cold Weather Sweaters." Not the most creative, but at least it's easy. It's for my sister-in-law, who chose her pattern but let me choose the yarn. I'm loving working with KP's Andean Silk--it works up so nicely and has such a nice drape to it. It's warm (on my lap, at least!) without the bulk, one of the reasons I love working with alpaca blends. I'm about to leave the house to get an alignment done on the car--it's great to steal knitting time anywhere you can. I've been avoiding knitting at Christmas concerts, though, because I screw it up too badly--I can't knit and take pictures of my daughter at the same time, unfortunately!

I am knitting the Susie Hoodie from Big Girl Knits, the second book, for my mom for xmas and it isn't going to be done. She picked it out and she knew that from the beginning, but it will be worth it when it is done. I am using WOA in Cranberry and it is knitting beautifully!! This is among my other xmas gifts I need to finish knitting. LOL

You're right - I knit the Juno Regina stole for my mom for this Christmas, and that middle section seemed to take forever. But, it's definitely worth it - the finished stole will be beautiful!

I started the Juno Regina stole from Knitty for a friend of mine. It's coming out beautifully, but it's so boring to knit! I've got about half left, so if I knit between 10-20 rows every day, it should be done by Christmas!

Good luck with that tote, it's a beautiful project and I love that color of WotA.
