We're all excited about the release of our Little Bubbles Baby Set , but I think I'm a little bit extra excited, because this was my first big design project here at Knit Picks, and I've been holding my tongue about it until now! But I finally can talk about it, and as this little movie will show, once given the opportunity, I talked, and talked and talked.
And the amazing thing is; I have even more, that I forgot to say! Like, that the sweater patterns come with two sleeve options! And, how cool would it be to knit the pattern for an older child (or an adult!) in Comfy worsted? I can't believe I forgot to say all this stuff!? But, that's what the knitalongs are for, right? For more Little Bubbles and Comfy chatter, check out the Comfy KAL, just started today!
I LOVE the colors. The set is super cute especially the hat with the points at the top. I'm glad to see the 3 different color sets. After watching the video, I think I like the tassels better as well. The center pattern on the sweater that you're wearing in the video is so interesting. Did you make the sweater yourself?
I have 3-4 year old girls to knit for. What measurement would you get using worsted instead of sport weight yarn? I'm knitting to a 21 inch chest for the youngest one for summer and would definitely want to jump up a couple of inches for her. I think you have made the most amazing sets! Bravo! Now I wish someone would have a little one, but there's hope!
The chest size for the largest size in the pattern is 21 inches, which is pretty generous for 24 months. Industry standards say that this is a size 2 and they usually provide for a good bit of ease. Of course, I don't know your daughter, but from what you've written, I would suggest buying one extra ball of the MC and lengthening the plain sections of the body and sleeves to fit her height. This would be the easiest way to size up the pattern. So if you were making the neutral set, you would need an extra ball of Ivory, for the blues, an extra ball of Seafoam, and for pinks, an extra ball of Flamingo. Hope this helps!
Hi Nina,
I love this set and have it in my shopping cart as I write. However, I was wondering, if I want to make this for a 36 month old would you recommend adding yarn to the kit and if so which of the colors would be most likely needed to make a larger size? My daughter is little for her age which is 2 1/2 now, but I want it to fit in the Fall. Most of the time I find myself making a size smaller for her. Maybe if you could post the measurements of the finished 24mo garment it would tell me just how much bigger I need to go. But still advise on the colors so if I decide to go bigger I know which ones I'll need more of.
This is sooooo cute - thanks for a great design!!
