Knitting Community

I have been busily knitting all weekend. I got a lot done, but no knitting FOs to show for it. Sigh!

Early yesterday I reminded myself that I had not done the embellishment on my apron for the Guild's Apron Project, so I started thinking about that and searching for ideas. Thank you Ravelry for having something I could use.

My neighbor came over to help me organize my stash... I had containers of yarn and fiber everywhere - stacked especially in my bedroom, and I had no idea where anything was located. So we spent three hours sorting, labeling, weighing fleece and rovings, and putting things into some semblance of order. I feel able to work now.

APRON PROJECT

I found several really pretty little knitted flowers on Ravelry and knitted this one for the Apron.

I found the Arum Lily here on Ravelry
Yarn: Shine Sport in Grass and Caution, and some Lion Brand Microspun in "Lily White" - how fitting
Needles: US 4, dpns - I would not recommend Magic Looping this one.

Here is a finished look at the whole apron:

And a close up of the pocket that contains my little flower:

This particular apron belonged to the grandmother of one of the guild members.

I am on my second skein of yarn for the felted diaper bag:

I am ready to start on the Eye of Partridge Heel for the Ginger Bread Sock (#2)

And I need a few more inched before starting the heel on the second alpaca sock.

I really hate that there wasn't more knitting progress to show, but in the next few days, I should be able to finish the Ginger Bread Sock and the diaper bag, and hopefully the alpaca sock, too.

Peggy Stuart is reading this with interest, as she is still unable to knit. Peggy, hang in there, knitting IS IN YOUR FUTURE!

What's on my needles: Ginger Bread Sock, Alpaca Sock, Felted Diaper Bag
What's on my MP3 player: Just finished Sense and Sensibility and plan on listening to Pride and Prejudice once again.
What is on my Wheel: I need to finish up the Polypay fiber I started at the farm festival.
Happy Knitting and Spinning to you all! Susan

I just recently went through my stash and took photos of it and put it all on Ravelry. It's took me nearly 3 hours by myself, and I'm sure I have probably half the stash you do. All that to say, I feel you. Both for what a pain it was to do and how nice it feels to have it all done. The downfall? Well, now I've been reminded of all this yarn I'd forgotten about and I now NEED to knit a bunch of things for myself. Unfortunately, I can't until the Christmas knitting is done.

I just saw it!! It is awesome!! That's lining pattern is perfect. Funny I thought it was perfect before I read why you picked out the pattern. I can't wait to see all finished. Nice choice for the matching purse too.

I put a pic of the finished (well fulled bag) along with the lining over in the Felting KAL. Probably should have put it in the UFO KAL, too, but forgot. --S

Susan, I love the diaper bag! Can you have the link for the pattern?

Peggy, I am so glad it helped! I can't imagine not being able to knit for an entire week - I would be "crackers" as Maria would say. The diaper bag if a very quick knit on size 15 needles. If I weren't working on anything else, it would be knitted and felted and I'd be sewing the lining and putting it together. I'd say I'm nearly 75% finished at this point. --S

Susan: What a pretty flower! Yes, I'm reading this with interest. It has been a week since my last real-life knitting fix! This helps. Thanks! I downloaded the pattern for the diaper bag. I'll make it if I can fit it in before it's needed! --P
