With my City Tweed Sweater, that is!

I'm very, very happy with this piece. What else can I say? It was a long project, but enjoyable at every step of the way, the yarn is luscious, the sweater is warm, but thanks to the lace patterning, not stifling, and I'm wearing it today even though it's probably 80 degrees out. (Our office is air-conditioned. And yes, I'm a little crazy.)

The details:

Pattern: Oblique by Veronik Avery, available as a free pattern from knitty.com
Yarn: City Tweed HW in Jacquard, 8 balls.
Needles: US 7 for the cardigan, US 6 for the collar and buttonbands.

Ravelry page for this project is here.

What a fun project! Now, to move on to more seasonally-appropriate lace knitting.

You did a beautiful job on the sweater congratulations! Nothing more rewarding than completing a piece that turns out so well. I've purchased some of the city tweed, and it is such a soft (non-irritating) yarn.

Veronik Avery's version was pretty, but the gray left me feeling a little lukewarm about it. Your version in that gorgeous, saturated shade has me fired up to make one! I've been asking around about whether City Tweed is suitable for people who are fussy about anything remotely itchy. I'll get a ball and make a swatch, I suppose.

Nina, what an awesome job you did on your sweater! It is definitely something to be very proud of. This is a must for me to knit! It would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe, especially since I live in the North. Knit On!

Cellogirl, I think that's a great plan! The textured lace pattern in the center front and back was definitely the most time-consuming stitch patter for me, so I think removing a section of it gives and extra added bonus! And the front will be easier to make lie flat if it's not double-breasted. Another bonus is that the neckline shaping only occurs over the textured portion you're talking about removing, so you wouldn't have to worry about shaping on that side either. The collar might look a bit asymmetrical too if you do it this way; if you don't like that idea, you'll probably want to move the neck shaping and buttonholes up a few inches to compensate. But overall, I say Go for it! and share your results with us!

Great sweater!!--fabulous color--thanks for the reference--I downloaded the pattern, am considering leaving off the overlap portion--this climate doesn't need the extra warmth, and I think that an asymetrical front would be great. How does this sound to you? The back and sleeves are perfect as patterned!
