I finished the sleeves for my Oblique, finally!

I blocked the fronts and backs already and I'm hoping that these sleeves take only a day to dry, because I have another flight this weekend and I want to use that time for seaming, collar and button bands!

I always wet block my sweater pieces with a towel, and this time, the lace pattern left an impression on the towel, sort of like a fossil sleeve:

Pretty neat!

Beautiful! I love the color! I only hope that I get to that point one day. I've knitted a dozen scarves and am just going to start my first pair of socks. I'd love to see the finished product when you're done!

Kristin, it is definitely worth it! I often skip blocking my sweaters and I have noticed that they never look as good as the blocked ones do. Since this sweater is seamed, I blocked the pieces, and it made seaming SO much easier, too! We have a blocking tutorial here: http://community.knitpicks.com/notes/Blocking_-_Sweaters which covers the basics.

Very pretty lace pattern and I love the color! I've come to terms with knitting a gauge, but blocking is still a process I have to push myself to master... This definitely motivates me! ;-)

Oh, you'll have a lot of fun on Knitty then. Definitely check out their pattern archives, and then marvel at how many hours slipped away while you were exploring there!

That's how it happened for me, anyway!

I linked to pattern in the post, but for anyone else who is looking, it can be found here:

It's such a fun pattern, though definitely a time commitment for a slow-ish knitter like me. And it's well-written, too. I didn't find any errors at all for the size I knit up!

Beautiful color, beautiful pattern --what and where do I find the pattern for Oblique? Such a subtle lace!! Isn't a/c handy for such occassions!!

Thank you Susan! I'm terribly excited to wear this. Of course, the weather report is calling for 10 days of 90 degrees-plus in Oregon, but I'll go to a mall or somewhere airconditioned if I have to. I'm going to WEAR it!

Robin, I'm using City Tweed HW. I like to use Yarndex or Ravelry to look up yarns that are recommended for patterns, because these sites are more consistently accurate in terms of yarn weight than manufacturers tend to be. Then, one I know the weight required for the gauge, I go ahead and find one of our yarns that matches. We have a thread in our discussions for yarn substitution stories, and if you check in on the KALs here, there's usually folks who are happy to help advise on substitutions!

What yarn are you using?? The problem I have with the Knitty patterns is that it's hard to figure out what KP yarn to use!!
