Knitting Community

It's been a few months since I've been able to knit, but I have been doing some dyeing! I just returned last night from 2 weeks of Cub Scout Resident camp as Handicrafts Director and here are a few sample of things I tie-dyed at camp. Everything turned out great and the campers had a great time doing various leather, bead, gimp, and wood projects. I have one more week in August and then it's back to knitting! I just found out my neice is getting married in September, so that may be th next project on the agenda!

I remember making gimp lanyards at summer camp!

No,Peggy, but it was fun seeing the results. I used Procion Fiber-Reactive dyes on 100% cotton. I do love your Kool Aid dyed yarn, though. I still have a stash of Kool-Aid and some sock yarn to make some more one-of-a-kind sock yarn. And I did offer to teach knitting, but no one took me up on the offer. They sure were into braiding Rexlace (gimp) though.

Allison, those are terrific. I bet the boys loved doing that. I especially think the caps are great. 3 of our 4 boys went on to be Eagle Scouts. My DH was the advancement chairman for the district for a while and we would get last minute calls all the time for approval of Eagle projects. Some of those calls were at midnight! DH always managed to help them get their projects done in time.
