It's such a great feeling to finish a project on time, or ahead of time. In this case the baby blanket is done before the baby is born - something I wasn't sure was going to happen! (Thanks for taking your time getting here, Amelie). The Shine Worsted is soooo soft, and my photos were taken after the blanket had been machine washed and dried (I was very anxious during this time wondering if my hard work was going to be destroyed by the machines). It washes beautifully, with just a bit of pilling. It was as soft and cuddly coming out of the dryer as when it went in.

It measures 31 x 34 inches, which is a personal/receiving blanket size. I used 6 balls of crocus, and 3 each of green apple and creme brulee. My daughter loves bright colors and is not a big fan of pink or pastels, so the color selection might seen a bit unusual for a baby item. But I think she will like it for her little girl. The stripe pattern made it fun to knit. There are a few more photos of it on my page. Now it's back to the sock that has been neglected.

Annette: Heels are easy. Just take it one line of instructions at a time. The part that confused me the most when I was starting was the heel turn. The whole idea of not knitting all the way across a row was difficult for me to get my head around, but now I don't need a pattern for simple socks. We'll help when you get there! --P

Hi, Robin. I really enjoyed working with the shine worsted. For my next baby/child project I want to try the organic cotton - I've read lots of comments about how soft it is, too. But I'm determined to get back to work on my first pair of socks. Somehow my motivation is gone and I'm distracting myself with mindless washcloths. I think it's because I'm close to starting the heel and it seems scary.

I think the colors are great. They go tohether beautifully, and babies need some stimulation, too!! I agree with that yarn being soft and yummy-- I used it for the preemie hats, and am keeping my leftovers to make a blanket. I just need to find someone who is preggers!!

Thanks, Peggy. I hope you get to knit some fun baby things soon, too!

What a fun project. I'm hoping to need to do some baby projects soon. (Stay tuned...) I like somewhat unconventional colors for babies. They're attracted to bright colors, you know, just like hummingbirds! --P
