Knitting Community

You might remember a while ago when we ran a contest to rename our Essential sock yarn - well the winner was "Stroll"! Not too long ago, we got our first shipment of some colors with the new name on the label, so depending on what color you order, you might get to see the new labels. I just wanted to remind everyone that Stroll is exactly the same fiber content (75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon) and gauge (7 - 8 sts = 1" on US 1 - 3 needles) and is 4-ply just like Essential - same colors, too.

Over the next couple months, more and more colors will come in with the Stroll name on the label. In August, we will switch the name in our catalog and here on our web site. You'll still be able to find projects on Ravelry for Essential, but you'll also start to see projects using the new name Stroll there too (we're working on getting a pretty feature photo up).

Click here to see all of the yarns in our Stroll lineup. And, I'll let you in on a secret.....we're getting more colors in fingering weight Stroll (including heathers and hand-paints) AND a new sport weight version of Stroll in August!

And seeing that there are heathered colors coming out makes me realize I need to do something about decreasing my current stash before August!!

Yay for a sport weight! There are NO affordable sport-weight sock yarns out there!

Plus, if we keep telling KP what we want, they are bound to figure it out.

I'm glad to hear about the sport weight! We have "winter" 9 months of the year in Park City, AND I have skinny feet, so sport weight is such a good idea. I made some socks from Telemark, and they have held up pretty well, but sock yarn is so much better for long-term wear! And maybe if we buy a lot of it, hand-painted or kettle-dyed will show up? --Peggy

Fabulous news! Its so hard to find a heavier wool/nylon yarn for socks. DH has such large feet, the heavier yarn makes it so much faster to make him socks. I can't wait!

Yea, more yarn to yearn for... after counting my stash today, I realize that it is terribly lacking in sock yarn, but I'm going to resist for now. Now the sport weight I might be interested in... we'll see. KP keeps us wanting more.

Still, I can dream, will adjust next project to heathered cables, it all works!

I'm sorry to disappoint, but the sport weight yarn won't be hand-painted. The fingering weight will be hand-painted. The sport weight yarn will come in solids and heathers.
