Knitting Community

When I opened the KnitPicks' e-mail I was surprised to find this community. Although I already have a weblog in German, I'll try to keep this one in English for my friends who don't speak German.
Well, it's heavy snowing here today - an Easter Sunday made to just stay in the house and knit or spin or read...

Last week I cast on a sweater in black merino/angora blend (75%/25%) from Colourmart. The pattern is "Sweetheart" from Birgit Freyer. A picture of how this sweater will (should...) look when finished can be found here.

I'm knitting the body part now; it's sort of mindless knitting until I'll reach the border with the lace pattern.

I hope I'll be there soon ;-)

Your sweater looks beautiful! I enjoy working with dark colors too, usually in the summer when I can be outside.
I also live in an old (but probably not as old as yours) farmhouse, and woke up this morning to 8 inches of very wet snow outside. I hope spring comes soon!

Hi! No, I don't find it difficult to knit/crochet with black yarn. In fact, I usually work with black or very dark colours like bordeaux/burgundy. They are my favourite colours! But daylight or a very good lamp is essential, of course.

I hope you will enjoy knitting your project in black, and I would very much like you to show a pic when finished!

We're still drowning in snow and I long for spring to come!

That is going to be a beautiful sweater - and how nice to be working on something with a lace edging, while looking at the winter weather out your window . . . .
Do you find it difficult to work with black or other very dark yarns? I just ordered some black yarn for an upcoming project, and a knitter friend was telling me how very difficult it is to work with black. I hope I don't regret my decision.

We had an Easter snow here in Montana, too, although not nearly as severe as yours! It was enough, though, to use as an excuse to stay inside and knit :).
