Knitting Community

One of the best perks about being here for me is that I get to see projects knit up and worn by the models before most. And for the October catalog I fell in love with the Domovoi Shawl (as did our model, Amy). I live in an older house and we simply don't like to spend lots of money to heat it so almost every night I am tucked under a blanket of some sort or another so I figured this shawl will be perfect for those nights. Long enough to wrap around my shoulders and down my legs, really is there anything else you could want besides a cup of hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies and a constant holiday?

Anyway, here is the start of the project. We originally knit it up in Andean Treasure Hot Rod Heather but I just love the dill heather so that is what mine is done in. And I can't really wear alpaca next to my skin but now I can certainly enjoy its warmth and coziness. Plus I love the challenge of lace because it keeps my mind alert but not the weight of lace yarn, making this another perfect project for me. It is knitting up pretty quickly right now as it has only been office/meeting knitting.

Here is a picture of the one we showed for the catalog. You can read about it on the web. It comes from Folk Shawls which had a lot of other very nice options to choose from. Maybe the next one.

I love the green heather and the longer length of this shawl, too! What a beautiful project.

I love Folk Shawls! I'm making the Victorian Peddler shawl right now. Such a wonderful book!

This is truly a beautiful shawl - bigger than an afghan and perfect for cold winter nights. I'll have to put it on my to do list. Thanks as usual for wonderful ideas on great projects.
