Now that I've become comfortable with drop spindling, it seems like I am spinning all the time! I completely understand those spinners who prefer drop spindles to spinning wheels. Or, at least have a couple of drop spindles besides their spinning wheels. It is so easy to drop spindle during small bits of time much like I'm used to getting in a few stitches on a pair of socks. I may even take one of my tiny drop spindles out to dinner tonight.
I used my Flip Mino to capture a bit of my enthusiasm.
I, too have been spinning on a wheel for MANY years but the appeal of the pick-up-and-go spindle does appeal. Are there any differences in spinning between the large and small whorls? Why did you choose the smaller? Thanks for the inspiring video!
Hello. I am brand new to this community and excited to be here. I watched this video on Friday evening and on Saturday I ordered my own aromatherapy spindle. I have been spinning on a spinning wheel for many years, but in February my home burned to the ground and of course I lost everything.
This video sparked my heart and the combination of spinning and aromatherapy really appealed to me.
I take my drop spindle with me just about everywhere. My 3 yr old has speech class once a week and I can get a good 30 minutes in spinning if i don't get too many little kids wanting to touch and see. I think adults ae more entertained by the fact I spin in public than the kids.
Thanks so much for the wrist-holder to use with a drop spindle. I love drop spindling lace and fingering yarns with a top whorl spindle, but I've always just wrapped my pre-drafted roving around my wrist. this will be much more useful.
