Knitting Community

So as most of you know I am the catalog manager for Knit Picks however I am a designer by trade so when we switched to new paper a few months ago I was so excited. The paper white improved, the tactile quality of the pages improved and then there is the technical side that allowed less bleed through on the pages all of which allows the hard work we put in on the back end a greater platform from which to shine... plus as an added bonus to it all the paper is manufactured under the guidelines of the Sustainable Forest Industry! The legal statement is this...The Sustainable Forestry Initiative(R) program promotes responsible environmental behavior and sound forest management. For more information visit www.sfiprogram.org. For us more common folks, it simply means we are doing our part to go a little more "green" in our everyday business life. That's all for now, back to the pages of the September catalog. -c.

I just got my catalogue in the mail today too! I love the full coloured tutorial, it makes me really want to try out the blank sock dying! It's so great that the paper is made from sustainable materials, I love leafing through the pages, it gives my eyes a rest from the laptop, and there is just something so nostalgic about a knitting catalogue!

I received my July 2008 catalog in the mail today. My husband was getting dinner ready when I got home, and I took my catalog to the dinner table on the screened-in porch to look through while he finished grilling dinner. I was WOWED by the sock blanks, though I will probably forgo that temptation, along with spinning (knitting and designing new projects consumes me). I saw several items in two or three books that really caught my eye, along with some socks from books that I have already purchased. I view/read Knitpicks.com nearly daily since I started knitting on a daily basis, but always enjoy the catalogs, as the view is from a different "angle". I have a "knitting to do list" this year that is unreal, so anything I buy in the near future will probably be books (now that we have the 40% off sale going on). I have yarn coming out of my ears. Christy, you do a great job, the catalogs are fantastic!

Great to know that you're doing all you can to make the catalogs as environmentally friendly as possible.

So YOU are the reason I am drooling over the July 2008 Catalog! Granted, I love looking through the Knit Picks Catalogs anyway because they are always clean and uncluttered, and the pictures are just the right size to appreciate the subject. However, I admit to muttering some adjectives under my breath this time, words like "enabler" and "cruel" (not really). I don't want to learn how to dye my own sock yarn, I really don't, but those orange/red/brown socks on the cover followed by the sock-blank tutorial inside won't stop calling me! The only thing holding me back at the moment is too many socks on the needles already, and not another pair of empty Options on-hand (another section of the catalog that won't be quiet!).
Great to hear that the catalog has gone green (to match my envy of those socks!)!
Annie :o)
