Options Harmony Wood 16” Fixed Circulars - review by Angela

I think it’s entirely possible I would be doomed to knit scarves and other flat projects for all of eternity if I hadn’t discovered these needles. I struggled with DPNs when I first attempted knitting in the round and was on the verge of giving up on my legwarmers altogether and just knitting another scarf when I discovered the fixed circulars. The slightly grippy Harmony wood kept the stitches from slipping off my needles (which was a problem I was having with the DPNs). The needles are a little bit shorter than the needles in our interchangeable sets which made them easier to maneuver when working on a smaller project like the legwarmers. And working with the cable was a joy compared to juggling 3 or 4 DPNs at a time. Plus, the Harmony needles are so pretty! Someday I’ll master those tricky DPNs but for now, the Harmony 16” Fixed Circular is my go to needle for legwarmers, hats, toilet paper roll covers (stay tuned to the blog for more on that soon!) and any other smallish project that needs to be knit in the round.

Never thought I could fall in love with knitting needles until I met my dpn's, cable needles, and circs in harmony wood. What a treat for the hands as well as the eyes. I have the options set - soooo worth the price (not that they're off the charts, but what a great investment!), and the cables are the most flexible I've ever used. I have one suggestion, however: engrave or stamp the needle size into the metal connector end. Makes it easy to check what size is in use on different projects, rather than having to pull out the sizer (which is always in the other project bag), or using ID tags.

Hi! I LOVE my harmony circulars! I will be buying them all ! I do a lot of socks using the magic loop. My kids at times have somehow gotten caught on my project and went running.... my stitches never fell off :o)

I haven't tried wood circulars, but I did learn to knit socks using Magic Loop directly on Knitpicks metal circulars (32"). Then I tried dpns and it felt "fumbly". Like I would accidentally stab myself with them. Yes, stitches tend to slip off slick metal needles if I'm not careful so I tried generic bamboo circulars for travelling. But the Harmony wooden needles look so beautiful... I wish Knitpicks had international shipping. I get my Knitpicks stuff delivered to my aunt's US address. It just takes so darn long to get to the Philippines. *sigh*

I love the Harmony needles also, and I am slowly buying all of them. To MountainAsh: I know with regular circulars, to straighten them out dip them in boiling water that you have removed from the burner, this should straighten them. If this can't be done, please let us know.

Love my harmony wood needles. Hope to replace all my needles with these as I can afford them.

Harmony wood needles are my absolute favorite!!! I hate metal because they hurt my fingers and they bend so easily... bamboo is lovely but often doesn't have the nice sharp point and I constantly worry about having one snap on me. The Harmony line is FANTASTIC!!! After getting the interchangeable circular set for sweaters and loving them, I saved my pennies and bought all the options + the DPN set (sorry gals, I love DPNS and they really do have a purpose... if nothing else they remind me where I am in a pattern). I completely agree with Crazed Knitter! The point, the grip, the look, the extra needle, the solid interchangeable screw in settings AND They don't bend so tight knitters like me can happily knit away! My only sorrow is that some of my cords are getting a memory and so are constantly looping on me. Still one small complain and a wealth of praise!

I started knitting socks on bamboo dpns and loved it until I discovered knitting in the round with two Knit Picks circular needles... I'm never going back to dpns... did I mention magic loop with longer needles is also a lot of fun. Options needles rock!

I just bought a bunch of the 16" Options circs in the smaller sizes. I haven't had a chance to use them yet BUT so far I love all of my Options needles. I have the interchangeable set and quite a few of the DPNs. My goal is to eventually have a total, complete set of all the needles available in Options. They have been my best needles ever. I love the tapered point. I love the slightly grippy finish. I love, love, love how they look - ever so beautiful. I have had a new that had a split BUT it wasn't a big deal because of the extra 6th needles the DPNs provided. Seriously, I adore Knit Picks.
