January’s project from Elizabeth Zimmermann’s book the Knitter’s Almanac is an Aran sweater. So, that is how I am beginning my year! As I worked out the design for my cardigan, I realized cabling would be a nice topic for the beginning of our knitting year together. It does feel nice to shake away the lethargy of Christmas vacation with a challenge.

What’s On My Needles
Two weeks of rest, relaxation and knitting! Well, most of the first week was spent resting more than knitting. But, after that, it was me, Xena, my audio books and lots of knitting. As usual, I overpacked, projects, not clothes! I only worked on the Moderne Baby Blanket and Jon’s Big Black Socks. The Hurry Up Sweater never even came out of the suitcase. Oh well, better to not risk running out of something to do.
I finished off the baby blanket the weekend before New Year’s. New Year’s Day I planned my Aran sweater to work along with the Elizabeth’s Year group in Yahoo. This weekend it is supposed to snow, again! Perfect weather for fireside knitting! Some Hurry Up Sweater work alternated with the beginning of my Aran cardigan.
