Knitting Community

Reflecting on the idea of being stranded on a deserted island is an interesting exercise in focusing your knitting requirements. It turns out that my care package would be filled to the brim with sock knitting supplies. The easy way they fit into my “normal” life has several positive applications for a “stranded” lifestyle. If you’ve been thinking of learning to knit socks, I hope to inspire you and give you confidence to try it. If you are already a sock knitter, I think you’ll completely understand the logic behind my deserted island choices.

I really enjoyed this, wouldn't it be something to be alone on a deserted island for jusst a couple of days with my prize possessions, my knit pic knitting needles and my yarn,, but only a couple of days, then i want to be with my family again.

I really enjoyed this podcast, mostly because three of the sock books Kelley mentioned are my favorites as well. Instead of "I Can't Believe I'n Knitting Socks", I usually recommend "Getting Started Knitting Socks" as the best tutorial for newbies. I agree that the only sock books you'll ever really need are Charlene Schurch's "Sensational" books. I went to Kinko's and had mine spiral-bound too! I wish all craft books were spiral-bound. I'd be willing to pay a little more to be able to lay my book flat.
