I love the New Year! I get all wrapped up in making new plans and setting new goals. The majority of my plans fall by the wayside but enough of them actually work out to keep me going through the same routine every year. Well, almost the same routine. This year, after some inspiration from the fantastic designs in Kristin Nicholas’ book, I am going to re-work my knitting stash. That’s right! Every ball and skein is going to get dragged out and re-assigned to something productive! I know it sounds crazy but I’m seriously considering making this a yearly habit.

What’s On My Needles
I’ve been spending my knitting time working on a pair of Big Black Socks for Bob’s son Jon. Jon has just been commissioned as a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. I joined the
Socks for Soldiers yahoo group as a way to focus my nervous energy. Jon is on leave for December but we will only be around for a couple of weeks. I wanted to be sure to have the socks finished before we left.
I’m in the middle of deciding what I am taking to Mexico for the holidays. Of course, my Aran sweater from Knitter’s Almanac. But, I need something to knit during the evenings at dinner and while we listen to music. That is taking some thought – socks, hats, scarves, I just don’t know. And, Kristin’s book has only broadened my selection of temptations.
You can read my interview with the Knitting Contessa on her
blog. It will be posted on December 13th.
